ABOUT THE CANTATA

Light is synonymous with the Christmas season. As we gaze upon the decorated homes and trees, we see symbols of hope that light will battle darkness, heal, and restore. It is only light that can counter that darkness. The lights on homes and trees are eventually taken down and packed away until next year, but the meaning of those lights last throughout the year. The birth of one Child brought a light that does not fade; a light that was desperately needed in a world of darkness, pain, and loss. A light that was desperately needed in a world of darkness, pain and loss. A light that would live on eternally...an Everlasting Light.

"He is the Light, Everlasting Light; born a Savior, born this night. He is the One, the Everlasting Son; Child of heaven. He is the Light!"

STEPHEN MINISTRY – Today is the third Sunday of Advent. In many Christian communities,

today is reserved for Mary’s Song of Praise, “Mary Did You Know.” This hymn is one of the most

recognized parts of the New Testament and is considered by many to be the exemplifier of what

it means to submit to the will of God.

If you or someone you know is facing a challenge, large or small, and would benefit from the caring

presence of a Stephen Minister, talk to our Stephen Minister leader: Mary Ellen Parks at 843.368.1852.

MIRACLE JARS – For the month of December the mission jars will be for our Special

Needs account. The Mission committee has set up this account to help individuals in our

Church Family and those in the local community who may have severe financial difficulties

due to extreme medical needs. This is a new program that we had set up this past year. We

have helped several people this year with medical bills, and we do keep the names private.

As Always your contributions are greatly appreciated.

Carrefour Friends Many elderly residents in care facilities throughout Bluffton often need someone to just simply

be there for them, not to fix anything or to do anything in particular, but to let them know that

they are cared for and supported by friends. It is such a comfort for these seniors to get a

friendly visit from one of our trained volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a friend for someone

who really needs one, please contact Jackie Tuohig at 913.748.5929 or email us at

[email protected].

Carrefour Friends……care for friends.

CHRISTIAN CARE MINISTRY is available for Communion Ministry, Hospital Ministry, Prayer

Shawl Ministry, Spiritual Ministry, Homebound Visiting Ministry, and Encouragement Ministry.

If you know of someone that would benefit from these wonderful ministries, please contact us.

Linda Cecil – [email protected] or 859.619.1777; Kathy Griebel, 843.837.7427 –

[email protected].

THE GIDEONS would like to ask you men of the church a favor. As we approach the

New Year, our plans are underway to "check in" with the local motels and make sure

each room has a Bible. Each outing takes only 2 hours from start to finish. We could use

the help and it’s a great way for you to be part of an activity on behalf of our Lord. No

obligation, just help us out once or twice. For more information, see Larry Stocker or call

843.808.7350, email him; [email protected].

LUNCH HOUR PRAYER TIME – OPEN SANCTUARY Meet us in the sanctuary for lunch hour prayer time, Tuesday, Dec 17th from 12 – 1 PM.
