Rapid Project Planning Pack for

The Research Phase

“ Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” Warren Buffet

We hear this story time and again when people are designing or decorating their residential or commercial project: it goes over time and budget. The reason for this is that too many people head off in a direction before they’ve sat down and conducted the necessary research, like whether an area or space fulfils the necessary function it’s intended for. We understand why – they’re excited. But just like a neurosurgeon never begins surgery without conducting a thorough diagnosis beforehand, you need to put in the hours and do your research, before you move into the Design Phase.

Luckily, we’ve created an Interior Project Planning Pack, giving you a simple way to help you move through this vital Research Phase. If you use this useful tool of ours, you’ll reduce your overall risk and drastically improve the end result.

Budgets, Contrac ts & other FAQ s

Here are some things to think about

when addressing costs and value

1. Establish a budget

A professional designer will help you get the best value and quality for your budget. They’ll absorb all of your ideas and find ways for you to achieve your goals, even if it means spending more time on finding affordable alternatives to your suggestions.

2. Outline contract terms

The contract should outline not only the legal terms, but also the plans that you and your designer have discussed including budget, design fees, and accountability for sub-contractors like painters, joiners and other installers.

FAQ: Is an Interior Designer really necessary and can they save me money?

Some people are frightened off by the perceived costs of using an Interior Designer, believing that they’re outrageously expensive and only useful if you have an unlimited budget. This is simply not true.

Not using a designer can work out much more expensive in the long run and can be time-consuming and stressful. Not everyone has the time to explore the endless possibilities that exist in order to create their dream environment and trying to choose from the infinite number of products in the market can be confusing and overwhelming. Using an effective and knowledgeable Interior Designer will eliminate all of these problems.

FAQ: Interior Architect, Interior Designer, Interior Decorator – what’s the difference?

What do Interior Designers really do?

An interior designer’s role is a lot wider than most people realise. When a designer manages your

project, they’re involved in every part of the building and design

process to ensure that your investment is secure, and that the

end result is what you’re looking for.

Myth RealityHiring an Interior Designer is out of your budget.

They will ask you what budget you can afford and will provide options that don’t go beyond what you can spend.

Designers switch a few fabrics around, and their work is done.

What appears to be playing with paints and fabrics is in fact about determining your space’s requirements and making it functional, adjusting to architectural blueprints, respecting building codes, standards and regulations AND beautifying the space.

Myth RealityYour home is small and is therefore not suitable for professional design solutions.

The most important service designers have to offer is to transform limited spaces into fully functional and liveable areas.

Interior Designers only need Pinterest to create designs.

Pinterest is one of the many sources they use to find inspiration and references, but interiors experts rely on a wealth of knowledge gained from years of experience in the trade, as well as various other sources including global and international trends.
