Think, Learn, Do!
The South High School Open Program’s mission is to encourage and foster students’ growth through experiential and challenging
learning and curriculum. Open’s well rounded diverse environment will promote
students educational experiences to function as a liberating “instrument of freedom,” by
which they will deal “critically and creatively” with their world and discover how to
“participate in global transformation.”

PLTW is a national nonprofit organization that partners with middle and high schools to implement a curriculum that emphasizes hands-on experiences in Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in an effort to prepare students for academic and professional success in these disciplines.
South offers six PLTW courses (Typical grade level)1. Introduction to Engineering Design (9th-10th grade) 2. Principles of Engineering (10th-11th grade)3. Digital Electronics (11th-12th grade) 4. Computer Integrated Manufacturing (10th-12th grade)5. Civil Engineering and Architecture (10th-12th grade)6. Engineering Design and Development (12th grade)
Enroll in a Project Lead the Way course and start earning college credit from the University of Minnesota.
