The unique characteristics of wood mean that literally every top is one of a kind. Key Features: • Over a dozen wood species to choose from. The top three include Maple, Walnut, and Hickory. • Several edge/corner profile options. • Variety of edge grain, end grain, and plank styles. • Custom Stains. • Finishes that include poly, matte, food safe oil, and waterlox. Also available unfinished (no warranty). • Backsplash option - 3/4” x 4” - any length up to 12’. • Edge grain maximum size: 4’ x 12’* • End grain maximum: 4’ x 4’ *Tops larger than that can be made in two or more pieces that will be seamlessly joined or invisible from the top or bottom, by using biscuits and glue. (This will add a joint charge). Distressing & Burnishing There are 3 levels of distressing: basic, artisan, and custom. Burnishing or antiquing is where the distressed marks are filled in with a black dye, and is only available on Level 2 Distressed or Custom Distressed tops. Custom Stain Matching Available upon request. We do require a sample to match. We will send a sample of the match back for approval. Stained top are limited to only polyurethane finish. Samples Can be made by request if needing to show to your customer. They will be a 1.5” x 8” x 8” square. Drawing After a top is quoted and an order for a top is submitted, they will then create a CAD drawing for final approval. The final drawing will need to be signed and returned to us. Upon receipt of the signed approved final drawing, the order will be placed in production. Lead Time Standard 3 week lead time on all tops. Care of Wood Tops Thomas Creek Wood Tops are coated with food safe mineral oil, Waterlox, or a polyurethane finish. The food safe mineral oil finish should be recoated once a month with mineral oil to maintain the bright appearance and to avoid cracks in the wood due to drying conditions. The Waterlox finish is both food safe and water resistant and requires no further application. The polyurethane finish is durable, water resistant, and requires only minimal maintenance. Simple cleaning can be accomplished with a damp cleaning cloth wetted with a mix of white vinegar and water. Do not use bleach, ammonia, or abrasive cleansers and avoid exposure to hot surfaces by using a hot pad or trivet. Thomas Creek Wood Tops is not responsible for improper maintenance or use.

Edge Grain consists of wood planks turned on their narrow edge. This style is the best method of revealing a more linear grain pattern. Thickness can range from 1.5” to 3”. Narrow edge is 3/4” strips, wide edge is 1.5” to 1.75” staves.

End Grain is considered the traditional butcher block style. Made up of planks of wood stood up on end, it’s pattern is sometimes referred to as “checkerboard.” Thickness 3” minimum.

End Grain

Planks of wood layed flat on their sides. This style is the best way to display the beautiful cathedral pattern in wood. Plank is not recommended style for cutting/chopping food. Thickness can range from 1.5” to 1.75”
