• Most are black, brown or grey.

• They can be over 2 m long and weigh about 150 pounds.

• They are very strong and have claws 5 – 8 cm long.

• They use their strong jaws and teeth to feed on frozen meat and bones.

• Their keen sense of smell helps them track other animals or locate meat buried under the snow.

• During their daily hunting activities they can travel up to 40km.

• As they flick their tongues they pick up scents from the air.

• Their Y shaped tongue lets them know what direction their prey is.

• They quietly wait for their dinner to come to them.

• Once close enough it grabs its prey with its sharp claws and bites it the deadly saliva usually kills the animal within a few days.
