The rst question that any potential memberasks about Circle K is What is Circle K? Yes, ourorganization shares the same name as a convenientstore at gas stations, but it doesnt mean that we areall about snacks and drinks. Circle K International is theorganization that breathes lie into your college lieexperience and every current member encourages

you to be a part o this organization.

Circle K International was established in 1936 byyoung college men who were participating in a serviceproject, sponsored by a local Kiwanis Club. The idea ocommunity service sparked a revolution as it appealedand was accepted by collegiate students around theworld. Thus, Circle K International was born.

Today, Circle K International is present at over 500college campuses with over 12,500 members. CircleK has three tenets where members dedicate theirocus: Service, Leadership, and Fellowship. Thesethree tenets are the main denition o what CircleK is all about as every activity, service event, con-erence, or social, is geared towards these three te-

    nets.

Orange Coast College Circle K International has45 members since last year, but we hope that thenumbers continue to rise. Reading about Circle K isinormative, but its not the right way to discover theclub. Get active, interact with members, and make aname or yoursel in an organization that wants youto live to serve, love to serve.

Despite only having two hours o sleep the night beore, I was still exciteto wake up and head over to the Boys & Girls Club or the much anticipateKellys Closet. As soon as I was paired with my little buddy, Jessicwe headed onto the bus. In no time, we were talking about our inte

ests and it turned out that we had a lot in common! Jessica was ecited to get new clothes or school and she denitely showed it oncwe got into the doors o Target. She led through the racks o cloting and picked almost everything she saw. She knew exactly whshe wanted and it was denitely hard keeping up with her! I ounmysel having to make sure that she didnt grab too many things due to o$101 budget. Toward the end o our shopping trip, I was getting extremeanxious. Jessica and I didnt even go to the dressing room yet! It was hectbut we managed to get into the dressing room. I tried helping Jessica in anway I couldwhether i it was helping her get a bigger size or taking all thclothes that she didnt want, I was running around Target like a mad persoAll in all, it was a great experience and I really do think that Jessica got somamazing clothes or the new school year. It was a successul event and I dbelieve that all the volunteers and participants had an amazing time.

Kellys Closet was the most rewarding yet stressul service project Ivdone all year. I had little sleep and it was going to be a long day. First wgetting everyone in the gym to play dodgeball until it was time to go. When was time, I had to assign partners- one volunteer with one Boys and Girls Clukid. It was dicult because I wanted to make sure that the partners were somwhat compatible at least. We got on the bus and went to Target, where they eus and led us out to shop. The initial shopping time o 45 minutes soon turned 2 hours and the walking soon turned to running. People raced across rom onend o Target to the other, trying to make use o every second. As I checked up opeople throughout the shopping time, some had a hard time and some breezethrough it. Aterwards, we went back to the Boys and Girls Club or our picnand activities! Seeing the smiles o both volunteers and shopping participanmade all the stress and hard work worthwhile. I had never elt so good abocommunity service.

Ater the August DCM, we all went to the Westminster CCenter to do some community service at the Taste o Westmster! At rst, Steph, Vincent and I thought our job- picking

trash- was the worst job out there. It actually gave us mexibility to go around and sample the ood than the otvolunteers who were stuck in one area. However, there wmoments when the amount o trash to be taken out becaquite overwhelming. Some o our trash bags leaked! Ater ting out the trash and washing our hands, we went around gting ree ood rom Baskin Robins, Outback Steakhouse, CreCorner, Zen Vegetarian Restaurant, Champagne Bakery amore! Everyone else had to pay $30. Towards the very endthe event, we had a mini dance party in ront o the stage athe singer said we wouldnt believe how much un hes havwith us. Theres nothing greater than to be able to help o

community than to have them appreciate us. All in all, it waterric event. The ood was great, the music was antastic, athe people were wonderul!
