ANote from the Superintendent

Throughout my career, the start of a new school year has always filled me with excitement. Just think-ing about the positive direc-tion Shore Regional has traveled in the past few years leaves me in great anticipation for 2009-2010.

New students, faculty and administrators willbe brought together with the mutual goal of suc-ceeding. Whether attempting to ace a test, explain acomplicated concept or provide service to the com-munity, all those who spend their days at Shore Re-gional High School carry an enthusiasm that laststhroughout the year.

Perhaps most noticeable to all will be theconstructive facilities work currently taking place. Iʼdlike to take this opportunity to assure our studentsand their families that our faculty and staff will doeverything possible to ensure that the learning ex-periences provided will be just as rich as any previ-ous year at Shore Regional. The structuralimprovement of the school will not come betweenour mission of educating the whole person to be selfaware, culturally aware, and involved in life-longlearning.

The 2009-2010 school year promises to beone of the most unique and exciting in Shore Re-gionalʼs history. New course offerings and extracur-ricular clubs are bound to heighten already strongprograms. Just as vital to the growth of the schoolare our alumni, who continue to “get back in touch”with Shore Regional. Whether a graduate of Shoreor not, I invite you to keep in contact with us andshare in our communities joint effort to make ShoreRegional High School a truly exceptional place.

Sincerely,

WELCOME BACK!T he S horeline

REFERENDUM UPDATEAt this time last year, Shore Regional High Schoolʼs Office of

Business Administration enlightened the sending districtʼs residents ofthe necessity of a new heating and ventilation system. Guided facilitytours, phone calls and emails conducted by this office helped many un-derstand the dire importance of September 2008ʼs referendum. After aheartening positive voter turnout, the goal of bringing Shore RegionalHigh Schoolʼs classrooms into the twenty-first century truly began.

By the spring of 2009, quality, cost-efficient engineering and ar-chitectural firms had been retained. Their blueprints and plans have

thoroughly reviewed and approved by the administra-tion, Board of Education and state. The month of Junesaw the first steps being taken toward preparing indi-vidual classrooms for complete overhauls of heating, ventilation and lighting systems.Once students andfaculty departed for the summer, work immediatelycommenced at a feverish pace that has yet to relent.

The process and progress of the referendumhas truly exceeded expectations. By the publication ofthis newsletter, twenty-four classrooms will have expe-rienced renovations. These improvements will im-mensely enhance learning conditions for ShoreRegionalʼs students as well as the workplace for fac-ulty and staff. Energy-efficient lighting will make contri-butions that are both “green” and cost-friendly.Ultimately, the entire building will have modern climateand lighting capabilities that infinitely perform more ef-ficiently than the outdated and defunct system put inplace nearly fifty years ago.

My confidence with the firms completing the ref-erendumʼs work has never wavered. In hopes to instillthe same optimistic assurance, I invite anyone seekinginformation regarding the construction process to con-tact me. Although the 2009-2010 school year may betransformative for our building, the quality educationour children receive at Shore Regional will always beconstant.

Sincerely,

Dennis W. Kotch, Business Administrator
