Mohave Valley’s Top-10 List of why you should teach in Mohave Valley Schools:
10. The district earned a “B” grade from ADE; All three schools also
earned a “B”,
9. It’s under a four hour drive to Phoenix & LA from school; three to Flagstaff and 1½ to Las Vegas.
8. Early release days for professional development and
regular common planning periods.
7. A friendly, diverse staff from all over the country.
6. The ability for teachers to earn extra money for sponsoring clubs,
sports teams, and activities.
5. Water sports in the summer, and weather you can’t beat ANYWHERE in the winter!
4. Our administrative team all began as teachers in the district,
and continue to base their decisions on one simple question:
Is it good for kids?
3. Plenty of night-life in Laughlin.
2. We’re a large enough district to offer plenty of student services, but still small enough to know
your name!
And the number one reason you should teach with MVESD:
Our kids need YOU!

special education services, after-school extra-
curricular and intramural sports programs,
and access to technology in every classroom
on all three campuses.
The area offers many activities for outdoor
enthusiasts, including hiking, camping, fish-
ing, skiing, swimming, and boating. For the
gaming and entertainment enthusiasts, the
casinos of Laughlin, Nevada are 20 minutes
away. Although summers can be harsh, often
exceeding 115 degrees (but it’s a dry heat ),
the winters are mild and attract enough win-
ter visitors to double the area’s population.
The Mohave Valley School District covers a
large and diverse population and geographi-
cal area. Part of western Mohave County, the
district serves the unincorporated areas of
Fort Mojave and Mohave Valley. The north-
ern end of the district supports many small
and medium sized businesses that are an
outgrowth of Bullhead City to the north. The
southern end of the district is comprised
mostly of small businesses and agricultural
areas. Sprinkled throughout is the Fort
Mojave Indian Reservations.
The area was initially inhabited by the
Mohave Indians. They called themselves
the Pipa Aha Macav (“the people by the
river”). The first white men to discover the
area were Spanish explorers who heard
the name pronounced as “Mo-HAH-vey,”
and spelled Mohave. The Indian tribe and
the area of Fort Mojave both use the origi-
nal spelling of Mojave.
In 2015 the district converted its schools
to grade-banded schools: Comprised of
Camp Mohave Elementary (serving stu-
dents in grades 3-5), Fort Mojave Elemen-
tary (serving students in grades PK-2),
and Mohave Valley Junior High (serving
students in grades 6-8), the Mohave Valley
School District
serves 1250 stu-
dents, preschool
through eighth
grade. Students
have access to a
wide variety of ser-
vices and activities,
including numerous
