VIII. ASC Chair Report My name is forest and I am an addict.
In the process of trying to add and remove signatories from our bank account it was brought to my attention by Bank of America a few issues with our account.
1. They said they would not change signatories on the account without the original person’s signature whoopened the account and a new tax id for the ASC.
2. They said the account was never set up properly from the beginning for the type of organization we are.3. They told me the account was set up as a corporation. We are not a corporation we are an association
according to the IRS.4. I could not remove all the previous signatories from the old account because I could not get the requested
documents from some even after several requests.
After polling the admin committee I contacted the IRS and set up a new tax id number for the area for banking purposes only. I then spoke to Bank of America again and began the process of setting up a new bank account for the area under the correct designation for what we are. We will phase out the old bank account once the treasurer is sure all checks have cleared the old account. This new set up will allow for ease of transfer of people on and off the account and set us up in the correct format. I have sent a copy of the IRS tax id information to the Treasurer for their records.
I met with Duke and Frank and had our signatures put on the new account. So our new bank account has been funded and is ready to use. I transferred a portion of our funds from the old account to the new account. I left a balance in the old account until the old account could be balanced and all checks issued on that account accounted for as being cleared to avoid any bounced check issues. I ask all GSR’s to PLEASE announce at their meetings the open subcommittee chair positions we currently have in the Area. Thank you for allowing me to be of service. Forest W.
IX. ASC Vice Chair Report I’m an addict name’s Duke. I’m filling in the chair this week. We got the bank account
squared away. I spoke with H&I chair, Newsletter chair, and the ex activities treasurer before the meeting. Everyone
is doing well. I also spoke with lit chair and it appears I’m going to have to sit in with her so I can see how literature
is operated in case no one steps up to be lit chair. We need support folks. I am going to sit with the previous
activities chair to find out what they have come up with for the next calendar year of activities… Thanks for letting
me serve. Duke
X. Secretary’s Report I’m an addict named Tatiana. I want to apologize for the delay in the minutes, and if people did not receive them. I have inherited all of the old contact info and I know a lot of it is outdated. Please see me during the break or after the meeting and double check contact info for your group is correct. Thanks for letting me serve. Peace and Love Tatiana
XI. Treasurer’s Report Joel accepted/2nd
by Evelyn. Treasure’s report was accepted. SEE END OF MINUTES FOR
SEPT MINUTES
XII. RCM Report The only new thing to report since the last ASC meeting is that the service system workgroup, which is proposing changes to the entire service structure, has come out with an updated report which also includes PowerPoint presentations. All this information is available at www.na.org/servicesystem.
The region will be holding its second workshop to review and give input on the service system proposals at the RSC next weekend in Miami Beach. The workshop will go over the sections on the Group Services Unit and the Local Services Unit. Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate.
I am going to pass out flyers today for the workshops to be facilitated by World Services that will be going over these proposals. This flyer includes the information for the workshop in Orlando to be held on October 29-31. As I have previously reported, the region has reserved 6 rooms for members from South Florida to attend, as well as a van that will be going from the southeast side of the state up to Orlando. As of now, 15 of the 24 total bed spaces have been filled and 2 people from this side of the state have requested a ride in the van. Anyone planning on attending who will need a bed or a ride in
the van needs to let me know as soon as possible as these are all on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can e-mail me with the request at [email protected]. In Loving Service, Jeff P.
XIII. Alt RCM Area Service Report from Alt RCM
Prior to being elected as Alt RCM, I attend the Regional Service Committee meeting in the Conch Republic to observe how the RSC functions and what my part would be. At that time, I agreed to serve on the Service Structure AdHoc Committee and will be going to the Workshop in October as a representative of the South Broward ASC.
My first RSC as the elected Alt. RCM will be this month and I will be in attendance.
I am also working with the RCM on the Area AdHoc ASC Inventory.
I look forward to serving, ILS Evelyn
