Theme:My Family and Friends Enrichment:STEM Lab Week: 9/25/2017

·Teacher introduces the finger play houses to students. Tell

students that they will be learning about shapes that are used for

homes. ·Teacher goes over shapes with students & builds a house out of

blocks. ·Teacher displays various blocks for students to build their own

houses.

·Students review the finger play houses and go though the book

“homes for everyone”. ·Review the names of basic

shapes. ·Students participate in a “shape hunt” throughout the school.

· Teacher discusses the characteristics of triangles with

students. ·Teacher uses AngLegs to

demonstrate how an angle is formed.

·Teacher distributes three AngLegs to each student so that they can form their own triangles.

·Teach children the finger play “window watching” and ask

students to find the window in the room.

·Review the attributes of a triangle and introduce students to

the term quadrilateral. ·Students make own

quadrilateral out of AngLegs.

·Students complete number three coloring sheet.

·Teacher reviews shapes with students.

·Students attempt to make shapes with play-doh.

·Names common shapes ·Slides, flips and turns shapes to demonstrate that shapes remain

the same. ·Investigates and describes
