you’ll want to keep wearing post-holiday — even once those blues hit.
For your feet, leave last year’s flip flops at home and look for something a bit more substantial. Menorcan brand Sollilas’ sandals have a rear heel strap for support (handy when navigating stony beaches, or just
after a surprisingly strong sun-downer), and they come in a mind-boggling selection of colours and finishes.
Bikini and daywear sorted, don’t overlook stylish extras to make your saunter to the beach a stylish one. We love edit58.com’s straw sun hats, which can be personalised, and bright,
pom pom-adorned seagrass baskets (which trendy folk on Instagram are known
to turn into plant pots come winter!). Finally,

It’s August, finally. Your long-awaited holiday is just around the corner, and nothing can ruin that out-of-office anticipation — except the
feeling that the shops have already moved on a season. But as you mentally save for later the suede ankle boots and mid-season coats starting to trickle in, there are still plenty of holiday-worthy wardrobe choices if you just know where to look. Coming to your rescue is a range of ‘holiday niche’ brands which will keep sunny vibes trailing right through the year (also good to know, should you be the sort of lucky beast who goes to Mexico in December). Who says the treasure hunt should be limited to the beach? And as for what you should be looking for, we’ve got plenty of solutions to suit every destination...
Best beach betsSwimwear sorted? If not, it’s time to make an investment you won’t regret. “Swimwear is far more technical to make than most people assume as they see so little fabric compared to a dress or a jacket,” says fashion stylist Lily Russo. And she should know; having founded Beach Flamingo with her family four years ago, the site stocks an edit of luxury beachwear all year round. “I always find it crazy that despite being at their most exposed, people are reluctant to invest in well-made pieces.”
If you’re looking for a beach-friendly playsuit or dress to see you through several trips, check out Pampelone, a brand founded by a former fashion PR who grew up in St Tropez admiring the enduring style of Brigitte Bardot. It specialises in beautifully embroidered cotton dresses and off-the-shoulder playsuits that

Casita, ShoreditchBrazil’s national cocktail, the caipirinha, is made with 50ml of cachaça, half a lime, quartered, and two teaspoons of sugar in a tumbler filled with crushed ice. Casita feels a little bit like you’ve stumbled into your mate’s house for a drink, or, more accurately, a Latino-influenced rave. Order off the menu for this one, but trust us, it’s an Olympian drink.casitabar.com/cocktails
Rio Boteco, London FieldsAnother pop-up has hit London Fields’ arches. Head here for tapas as well as Rio Boteco’s signature dishes, which include Vaca Malandra (slow-cooked short ribs with cassava gratin), Moqueca depeixe e camarão (a seafood coconut stew) as well as plenty of that Rio favourite: cachaça. Intriguingly, for £9 you can also eat your dinner in front of a movie.rioboteco.co.uk
Cabana, WestfieldRio is already in the capital at Cabana in several locations including Westfield London (Shepherd’s Bush) and Westfield Stratford City, all inspired by the streets, beaches and markets of Brazil. The locals call the classic dish of chargrilled halloumi with a guava dip the “Romeo & Juliet”. But the cheesy baked dough balls are also a favourite.cabana-brasil.com
