Where fashion began?

France considered the center of fashion for almost 400 years from 1600s into the 1900s. Especially in Paris.

In the 1600s, French royalty and wealthy landowners employed their own dressmakers and tailors.

In early traditional cultures, styling of clothes did not change or if it changed stayed for a long period.

WHY DOES FASHION CHANGE?

Fashion change because people change.

We always want something new. Clothing change for practicable reasons, for appropriateness for the season, and for adaptation to environment situation. In some cases the popularity of fashion endure for many seasons because of the combinations of these reasons.

Fashion design is the designing and creating of new fashion trends.

The more unique your creations, the more successful youll be.

Its a glamorous career with a lot of money to be made.

Fashion designer can be described as the person who got knowledge and skills in designing clothes using all the materials such as fabrics and designing it in any kind of styles and fashion.

KINDS OF FASHION

Haute Couture - French word meaning high fashion. It means one-of-a-kind. These include designers' original designs.

Ready to wear (Prt--Porter) - Term used to describe mass produced garments. These include designers' originals manufactured to a certain number for department stores and offered at lower prices.

Haute culture

Started after the French Revolution (1789), haute couture design firms grew. French for Fine Tailoring High-fashion, individually designed, original, handmade garments for the elite, $2K-$40K.

Each collection is researched so that all the items in it complement each other, will be in style, and have the particular look for which the company is known for.

Predicting Trends

A designers most difficult task is forecasting what will be in style for the coming years. To do this, they know the past trends and look at repeats. They also purchase HIGH priced trend magazines. Additionally they observe what succeeded with customers in the past.

Designing builds of theme and includes number of garments, to be done. From paper pattern to muslin sample, adjustment, accurate pattern, samples in fashion fabric and various colors in 3 month period.

Pakistani National Dress

Men all over Pakistan prefer shalwar kameez with some additional accessories which include PakistaniWaistcoat,AchkanandSherwaniwith the shalwar kameez or withChuridarPajama. Jinnah Cap also calledKarakul,Fezalso called Rumi Topi andTaqiyah (cap)is used with Shalwar Kameez.Khussais a popular foot wear with shalwar kameez. Men like to wear traditionalshawlsmade ofPashminaor other warm materials especially in Northern part of the country.

Regional Clothing

In regional clothing, Balochi women wear heavy embroided Shalwar Kameez and Dupatta according to the weather conditions. They wear Kameez full of heavy EmbroidedShisha work. Sindhi costumes have different styles of embroidery and some women useAjrakas Dupatta. these women also wearbanglesin their traditional way. Punjabi women prefer light embroidery on simple Shalwar Kameez or Kurta. Traditional Lacha and Bangles are also used. Paranda is the special traditional, colorful and unique Punjabi item which is used to tie the hair. Pathan women wear embroided Kameez with a farak with a heavy Dupatta. Kashmiri phiran style kameez has heavy embroidary on the front neck of the kameez and is often made of wool.Women Dresses
