Welcome to The Battle – East – 2017 Finals!
We are excited to have you join us at our 5th Battle Fitness Festival to date! To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone at The Battle, please go through this guideline before the event.
GENERAL ATHLETE INFORMATION
BRIEFINGS & CHECK INS
Athletes must attend all specified briefings on Thursday, November 2nd, 2017.
To accommodate athletes who will be arriving in late, The Battle staff will be present at Circuit+ Megabox, Shuwaikh, throughout the night to facilitate late check ins.
CHECK IN PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEDIA
Every year, we bring a team of professional photographers to take our athletes’ Check In pictures. This year is no different. Be sure to arrive early at the Check In location to ensure that your picture is taken.
We will also have a team of videographers capturing every moment so make sure you arrive camera ready!
All images will be uploaded on http://facebook.com/battlecpcf.
NOTE: Our photographers are commissioned for limited hours so we cannot guarantee that athletes arriving after the designated Check In period will have their pictures taken.
THE BATTLE SCHEDULE
Below is the schedule for all The Battle’s Athlete Games and Super Team Cup activities taking place during the event. Athletes are responsible for being present during the times they are competing. Athletes are not recommended to leave the venue for extended periods.
TRANSPORTATION AND ACCESSIBILITY
We will be providing complimentary daily shuttles between the Ibis – Salmiya Hotel and Green Island for the entirety of the event. Below is the tentative schedule. Please review the final schedule at the hotel, venue, and website. Please note that all schedules are subject to change. Always refer to the website for final schedules.
We are also collaborating with our friends at Careem this year to provide you with further transportation options. Careem is a regional car booking app that provides on-demand transportation. Athletes will be entitled to 20% off a total of 6 rides when using the code BOE17.

SPORTSMANSHIP AND PROFESSIONALISM
Athletes must demonstrate sportsmanship and professionalism at all times. The Battle is a competition that was created to unite athletes in the spirit of competition and athleticism, in a fun, non-offensive environment. Any negative attitude towards fellow athletes, judges, staff members, spectators, or anyone at The Battle will immediately result in disqualification from the competition.
APPEALS
All appeals must be brought to the Head Judge’s attention immediately after your heat. Any audio or visual recordings from supporters will not be taken into consideration.
EQUIPMENT
Any equipment you wish to use on the floor needs to be approved by the Head Judge prior to your heat. Any specific equipment that an athlete requires for warming up or for recovery purposes needs to be provided by the athlete.
Athletes must bring the following:
• Jump ropes • Towels
INJURIES AND PHYSICAL CONCERNS
Any injuries or physical concerns an athlete experiences must be brought to the Head Judge’s attention prior to your heat.
The Head Judge - in cooperation with the medical crew - will make
the final decision on whether or not an athlete can attend/continue the competition based on the severity of the athlete’s injury.
This is to ensure your safety and well being.
CLOTHING
Athletes are advised to wear the official Circuit+ Battle t-shirts provided on the day of check in.
Some additional clothing guidelines to consider are:
FEMALES:
• Please try to cover your shoulders in any public setting, including The Battle grounds (no tank tops or bare sports bras).
• Please try to cover your thighs in any public setting, including The Battle grounds (no booty shorts).
MALES:
• Please avoid working out shirtless.
Kuwait, as a country, does not legally enforce any specific dress code. However, in respect of the country’s Muslim culture and to avoid unwarranted attention or offense, we require athletes to follow the above guidelines.
FOOD AND DRINKS
There will be food vendors and coffee shops at The Battle grounds.
However, athletes should plan ahead and bring plenty of food and water for rest periods during the event.
MOVEMENT STANDARDS
Please note that all Movement Standards are subject to change. You are requested to attend the mandatory Athlete Briefing on Thursday, November 2nd at Circuit+ Megabox in Shuwaikh.
Read nothing between the lines. What is not stated will not be judged.
Deadlift
Start: Barbell on the floor (both plates touching at the same time) End: Barbell in hang position, knees and hips fully extended, shoulders behind the bar
Note: Any grip is allowed, except for sumo deadlifts. Partner Deadlift
Start: Barbell on the floor (both plates touching at the same time) End: Barbell in hang position, knees and hips fully extended, shoulders behind the bar
Note: Any grip is allowed, except for sumo deadlifts both athletes must be on the bar at all times during the whole lift.
Row
Start: Athlete with feet attached to the rower, damper and foot settings adjusted prior End: Athlete with feet attached to the rower and handle in hands until the monitor clearly reads the required distance/ cals /etc.
Note: Athlete cannot grip the handle and start rowing until the ‘GO’ has been called
Shoulder to Overhead (STOH):
Start: Barbell in contact with shoulder (elbows in front of bar) End: Barbell overhead with knees, hips, shoulders and elbows fully extended and in one vertical line, feet within shoulder width Front Squat
Start: Barbell in front rack (elbows in front of barbell) Requirement: Bottom position - Hip crease below top of knee cap End: Barbell in front rack with athlete standing fully upright (extended knees and hips) Double Under
Requirement: rope passes feet twice with one jump, rope must be swung forward Thruster Start: Barbell in front rack position (elbows in front of bar)
Requirement: Bottom position - front squat with hip crease below knee cap, one fluid motion from front squat to overhead End: Barbell overhead with knees, hips, shoulders and elbows fully extended and in one vertical line Snatch
Start: Barbell on the floor (both plates touching at the same time)
End: Barbell overhead with knees, hips, shoulders and elbows fully extended and in one vertical line, feet within shoulder width
Note: One fluid motion from the floor, no re-bending in the elbows, any style is allowed
Hang Power Snatch
Start: Barbell starts in the hang position which is above the knee but below the hip.
End: Barbell overhead with knees, hips, shoulders and elbows fully extended and in one vertical line, feet within shoulder width
Overhead Squat (OHS)
Start: Barbell overhead with knees, hips, shoulders and elbows fully extended and in one vertical line
Requirement: Bottom position - Hip crease below knee cap End: Barbell overhead with knees, hips, shoulders and elbows fully extended and in one vertical line Rope Climb
Start: Athlete with both feet on the ground
End: Athlete clearly making contact with target at top of rope
Note: legless and/or with legs, controlled descent - no dropping!
Power Clean
Start: Barbell starts on the floor
End: Barbell in front rack position, elbows in front of barbell, hips and knees fully extended, feet in line within shoulder width.
Hang Power Clean
Start: Barbell in hang position (above knee cap)
End: Barbell in front rack position, elbows in front of barbell, hips and knees fully extended, feet in line within shoulder width.
Note: Can NOT be a fluid motion from the ground to the front rack position.
Burpees
Start: Athlete with both feet on the ground
Requirement: Chest and thighs touching the ground at the same time at some point.
Note: Two foot take off, extension required
Burpee Over Bar
Start: Athlete with both feet on the ground
Requirement: Chest and thighs touching the ground at the same time at some point
End: Athlete with both feet on the ground on the other side of the barbell
Note: Two foot take off, no extension requirement
Burpee Box Jump
Start: Athlete with both feet on the ground. Chest and thighs touching the ground at the same time at some point.
End: Athlete with both feet on the ground the athlete then performs a box jump standing fully at the top.
Note: Two foot take off, No step ups for athletes.
Team Burpee
Start: All athletes start stood tall. Chest and thighs touching the ground at the same time at some point.
End: All athletes stood up showing full extension.
Note: Athletes do not have to jump at the top of burpees
Kettlebell Snatch (alternating)
Start: Kettlebell on the floor
Requirement: One hand on the Kettlebell, fluid motion from ground to overhead
End: Kettlebell overhead (centered), with knees, hips, shoulder and elbow of working arm fully extended and in one vertical line, feet within shoulder width Note: Alternating is required after every good rep, Kettlebell must be brought down under control (hands on at all times) D-Ball Over Shoulder
Start: D-Ball on the ground Requirement: D-Ball going over the athletes’ shoulder with knees and hips extended
End: D-Ball on the ground on the other side of the athlete
Atlas Stone Carry
Start: Atlas stone is picked up to chest once ball is on chest athlete can begin to walk.
End: Ball is placed on designated matting.
Requirement: The ball must be on the chest not on the shoulder whilst carry is taking place.
Dumbbell Overhead Lunge
Start: Dumbbell Starts overhead both feet in one line athlete takes lunge forward showing control and standing up each rep.
End: Athlete must stand up fully before next step is taken.
Requirement: Both Athletes feet must cross the finish line before reps are counted.
Ring Muscle Up (RMU)
Start: Athlete hanging from pull-up bar with arms fully extended Requirement: Athlete going through some portion of a dip on top of the bar
End: Athlete in support with shoulders over the Rings and elbows fully extended
Note: Athletes arms must be straight in the bottom portion of the kip
Bar Muscle Up (BMU)
Start: Athlete hanging from pull-up bar with arms fully extended Requirement: Athlete going through some portion of a dip on top of the bar
End: Athlete in support with shoulders over the bar and elbows fully extended Note: In order to do consecutive reps feet must pass vertical plane created by the bar in the bottom position, hands must be in contact with the bar at all times
Pull Up
Start: Athlete hanging from pull-up bar with arms fully extended
End: Athletes chin is over the bar showing control throughout the rep.
C2B
Start: Athlete hanging from pull-up bar with arms fully extended
End: Athletes chest touches bar and the rep is counted at this point.
Note: In order to do consecutive reps athletes chest must touch the bar in order for rep to count. If athlete is high enough but chest does not touch the rep does not count.
Toes to Bar (T2B):
Start: Athlete hanging from pull-up bar with arms fully extended, any style and grip is allowed End: Both feet touching the bar at the same time at some point (attaching one foot onto the bar is not allowed) Note: In order to do consecutive reps feet must pass vertical plane created by the bar
Clean and Jerk Start: Barbell on the floor (both plates touching at the same time) Requirement: Barbell touching shoulders in front rack position at some point
End: Barbell overhead with knees, hips, shoulders and elbows fully extended and in one vertical line, feet within shoulder width Note: any style is allowed
Air Squat
Start: Athlete starts hips locked out feet shoulder width apart
End: Athlete squats below parallel showing control and fully opening hips once stood up.
True form Run
Start: Athlete starts off the Trueform once time is set athlete may start to run.
End: Athlete safely exits the Trueform
Note: Athletes hands can be used to start wheel on true form but cannot be used during the run.
Assault Bike
Start: Athlete starts off the assault bike once time is set athlete may start to Bike
End: Athlete safely exits the Assault bike
