Named after the invincible Greek god,this worm was known for stealingpersonal information by capturing dataentered on Internet banking sites.The worm has also shown itsability to infect even mobile devices.
THE OFFENDERThe 24-year-old Algerian national Hamza Bendelladj was the hacker
responsible for the ZeuS botnet.
He graduated in computer sciences in Algeria in 2008.
He has been in command ofa significant Botnet using two ofthe most notorious financialmalwares, ZeuS and SpyEye. Thesehave earned their masters somepretty massive payouts.

CAUGHT YOU!On January 6, Bendelladj was arrested
by the FBI while attempting totransit through Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport from Malaysia for hacking private online accounts held in 217 banksand financial institutions worldwide.
TOTAL ACQUIRED POSSESSIONS
The stolen assets from banks worldwide add up to $100 million --- that amounts to an estimate of P 40, 000, 000!
ALIASESBendelladj was dubbed as “Happy Hacker” because of his smiling
appearance, even when he was arrested.
He was also known by a
miscreant nickname “bx1”.
GIZMOS
Police confiscated from Bendelladj tw olaptops, one tablet computer, a satellite phone and a number of external hard drives, where satellite phone and notebook computer were his main tools.
ESSENTIAL ACTIONS
Bendelladj is under the custody of the Thai police.He is now awaiting extradition to the US state of Georgia, where a district court has issued a warrant for his arrest.
