Joey Laquerre Claims 14th Thunder Road LM WinLongtime veteran of Thunder Road stock car racing, Joey
Laquerre of East Montpelier earned his 14th career Late Modelfeature win during FairPoint Communications night on Thursday,June 5. It was the first Thunder Road Thursday night event of2014. Laquerre held off both Shawn Fleury and Brett Gervais dur-ing multiple restarts to claim the win and move into a tie for fourthon the all-time Thunder Road Late Model wins list.
Fleury and Gervais finished second and third respectively in thecaution-plagued 50-lap event. Dave Pembroke appeared to havethe fastest car on the track at one point but couldnt find room toget to the front after several caution periods near the end of the
event. He settled for fourth followed by Brooks Clark. NickSweet, Derrick ODonnell, Josh Demers, Jason Corliss and KylePembroke completed the top ten.
The 24-car field was quickly cut down to 20 as a pile up in turnone, with just one lap complete, ended the day of Ricky Roberts,Eric Chase, Dave Whitcomb and Eric Badore. Several other carswere involved, but were able to continue. The event would see
eight total cautions.Eric Johnson of Randolph Center claimed his first career Bond
Auto Tiger Sportsmen win after leading the 35-lap event flag-to-flag. He held off fellow podium finishers Double-O Joe Steffenand Mike Billado. Point leader Jason Woodard and TuckerWilliams completed the top five. Dylan Payea, DougCrowningshield, Brendan Moodie, Cameron Ouellette and JoelHodgdon all earned top tens.
Wolcotts Jamie Davis scored his third career Allen LumberStreet Stock win. He held off Kyle Streeter on a green-white-checkered finish, while Dave Whitcomb took his second straight
podium finish in third. Garry Bashaw and Jennifer Getty roundedout the top five.
The highlight of the Street Stock 25-lap feature was a barrel-rolldown the front stretch by Berlins Ken Stridsberg on lap 23. Theroll brought the field under red, but Stridsberg was okay.
All three Thunder Road divisions will be back in action nextThursday, June 12 with Harvest Equipment night. Post time 6:30pm.

Vermonts muzzleloader antlerless deer hunting permit applica-tions are now available on the Vermont Fish & WildlifeDepartments website, www.vtfishandwildlife.com. A quick-linkto the information and application is provided on the home page.
Its a really swift and easy process that ensures your entry isimmediately entered into the lottery, said Deer Project LeaderAdam Murkowski. Plus, it saves you postage. We encourage youto use the online application because it is more efficient for youand for us. Be sure to apply before the August 15 deadline.
Like in the past, a person may apply in the lottery category, oras a landowner. However, it is a violation for a landowner to applyfor a landowner antlerless permit if they are posting their landagainst hunting. Fish & Wildlife says it wi ll be closely monitoringlandowner applications and listing permit winners in both catego-
ries on its website.The Fish and Wildlife Board met on May 29 and approved the
number of December muzzleloader season antlerless permits at17,050 distributed in 13 of Vermonts 20 Wildlife ManagementUnits (WMUs) and to allow antlerless hunting during the archeryseason in 18 of 20 WMUs with WMUs D2 and E being closed tothe taking of antlerless during the archery and muzzleloader sea-sons. Youth hunters will have the opportunity to take one deer ofeither sex during the youth deer hunting weekend on November8-9, 2014.
Hunter success with muzzleloader antlerless permits has beenas low as 10 percent in some WMUs and as high as 35 percent inothers. Each year WMU-specific success rates are taken into con-sideration when issuing antlerless permits in order to better man-
age the harvest of antlerless deer.
Hunters are reminded of the critical role they play in conserving
Vermonts deer resource through the purchase of hunting licenses
and participation in mandatory harvest reporting. Without
Vermont deer hunters the scientific management of the deer herd
would not be possible, said Murkowski.
Biological information such as fawn and buck body weights,
antler development, and reproductive data indicate the Vermontsdeer herd continues to remain healthy, said Murkowski, but it is
still important to harvest an appropriate number of antlerless deer
to maintain a healthy deer herd. A healthy deer herd is a benefit to
Vermonts deer, the habitats that support them and to Vermont
