Learning Goals:

Development of visual perception Symbol formation Comprehension of constancy (different objects can indicate the same amounts) Comprehension of numbers 1 - 10

How to Play

Begin by playing in rows and using only one number at a time. First, show the child how to place the corresponding number of coloured chips directly on the hollow circles.

Next, introduce the same number further by finding the same amount of pins for the tree, as well as the number card and corresponding pie chart card. Allow the child to put these on the board. Encourage them to count and say the number out loud with each.

As children advance in their counting ability and comfort with the materials, they can also begin to play by going down each column adding one each time.

Contents

• 5 game boards • 20 number and pie chart cards • 55 chips in 5 colours • 55 ”fruit” tree pins in 5 colours.

How to Play

Game boards and their matching playing cards are coded with symbols in the upper left hand corners. Organize the 8 game playing cards along the top and bottom of the theme game board.

The challenge is to match exact amounts of similar but different items. After play is complete, flip the cards over and on to the game board. When played successfully, the combined back side of the playing cards will reveal a large image.

CODE E6304 | AGE 4 years+CATEGORY Home EducationPRODUCT 170L 170W 10H mm

How to Play

Level 1: Place all the sticks on the table and agree on a starting point. Taking turns, the players roll the colour die for stick choice. For example, if the red colour rolls up on top, everyone with a red stick may place one on the board. If a colour runs out, roll again. When the die shows the Hape logo, the players can choose any piece. Completely fill the path. There is no way to ”win” in this game since the goal is simply to fill the path.

Level 2: The sticks are distributed so that each child has an equal number of coloured sticks. There may be extra sticks that are not used. Agree on a starting and finishing point. Take turns rolling the coloured die to place the stick on the path. Players skip a turn if they do not have the colour stick rolled on the die. When playing on corners multiple shorter sticks can replace the longer coloured sticks. The first player to use up all of their sticks is the winner.

Learning Goals: Measuring Comparing lengths and sizes Logic and reasoning

Kralo Group Set Square

CODE E6310 | AGE 4 years+CATEGORY Home EducationPACKAGING 220L 60W 220H mm

Learning Goals: Hand eye co-ordination Thumb-pointer finger co-ordination Being organised

How to Play

Create designs using the transparent bead board placed over an image.

Children are challenged to stay organized when placing the beads. By keeping the beads on the opposite side of the dominant hand, children will reach over the mid-line of their body while selecting beads. This action corresponds to left/right brain motor skill development and is also a soothing rhythmical activity.

Contents

• 1 transparent square bead board • 8 patterned image cards • 120 plastic beads in 6 colours

Skribi

CODE E6311 | AGE 4 years+CATEGORY Home EducationPACKAGING 260L 60W 260H mm

How to Play

Place a marble on the starting point and cover it with a cup. Follow the routes on the game board controlling the marble by sliding the cup. Try not to let the marble fall into a hole. Try giving each hand a turn or racing another person.

Note: Cups are selected by skill. Small cups make the game easier. The large cup lets the marble roll more from side to side, requiring heightened concentration. If a younger child plays with an older one, the younger player uses the small cup and the older player uses the large one. In this way, the degree of difficulty will be more balanced. Likewise, the less dominant hand can also be used to balance the playing field. Get creative and have fun!

Contents

• 20 pairs of playing cards • 1 red card

How to Play

Memory game: Shuffle the cards and arrange face down. Players try to collect pairs of playing cards which are the same or opposites of each other. The one with the most pairs wins. The player with the red card has to show, through words or actions, how one of their sets are opposites. This part of the game is endlessly fun and creative.

Neighbour game: The cards are shuffled and divided equally among players. Players separate out any initial matched sets and set them aside. The remaining cards are all shown to one another.

The red card holder starts the game by letting his neighbour take one his cards. Everyone takes turns collecting a card from their neighbour to make pairs which are set aside. When only the red card remains, the player with the most matches wins the game. The player left holding the red card has to tell or show why one of their pairs are opposites.

Learning Goals: Language development Sorting logic Visual memory

How to Play

Sort the cards into sets of similar themes. Name each card image based on the identical symbol printed on the upper left corner. This helps the logical sets become more clear to the child. Initially, pre-arrange a few sets for the child. Later, shuffle a few sets for the child to sort. As the cards are printed on both sides, after mastering one side, change to the other side.

Asking the child specific questions can help them find the right combinations. For example, “what do you take with you to the beach?” or “What shines in the sky?”
