Iceland is an amazing country filled withbeautiful nature, wonderful food, and inspiring art and culture. Startyour day with a traditional breakfast at Viking World Café, includingadmission to The Viking World Museum. Here you will step back intime as you take-in the impressive replica of a Viking Ship. On displayis the actual vessel that journeyed from Iceland via Greenland to NewYork in the year 2000 to show how it was possible to sail this routehundreds of years ago. Next, it’s time to explore Iceland’s capital ofReykjavik on a city exploration lead by your knowledgeable tour directorwho will delight you with insightful details of this beautiful city. Yourtour takes you to the Höfði House, where presidents Ronald Reaganand Mikhail Gorbachev met in 1986 – a summit that marked the endof the Cold War. Along the way, we will take some time at Þingvellir NationalPark (pronounced Thingvellier) to gaze upon the site where the world'slongest running Parliament, first established in 930 AD, was founded.Here district assemblies were organized with a general assembly calledthe Alþing, that continued to meet until 1798. Next, we will travel on tothe Haukadalur Valley to explore the Great Geysir Geothermal Area.The day of discovery continues with the opportunity to take-in the awe-inspiring view of Iceland’s most famous waterfall known as the GoldenWaterfall located on the Hvítá (White) river which is fed by Iceland´ssecond biggest glacier, the Langjökull. Here we will make a stopat Troll Falls along the Grimsa River. Make sure to keep an eye outfor trolls…carved into the cliffs, that is. Next, take in the majesticpower of the Deildartunguhver hot spring. Then it’s on to Hraunfossarfalls that steam over a lava field and the cascades of Barnafoss.Continue the day’s exploration with a visit to the historic village ofReykholt, the place that medieval writer Chieftain Snorri Sturlusoncalled home. West Iceland’s iconic sites roll out thewelcome mat for you with the opportunity to experience LangjökullGlacier – Iceland’s second largest glacier – on a snow truck and byfoot as you have the chance to venture through the glacier’s icetunnels…a simply amazing experience!
