Get ready for the launch of the wkndr tv on iVu#wkndrtv

+Over the past two months, we took you to some of the coolest spots in Jamaica, gave you a peek into the weekend activities of some of your fellow Jamaicans and kept you up-to-date on the best events and activities happen-ing on your three favourite days of the week. Now, it’s time to step it up a notch with the launch of our weekly series, the wkndr tv. It will be available exclusively on iVutv.com, Jamaica’s first online TV Network, and debuts on Monday, April 30.

Our host, Donalee Curtis, will make the wkndr come alive as she treks to all the best locations and events, showing you where to go, what to do and what to eat on your weekends.

“I really enjoy working on the show because it gives me an opportunity to share the interesting things I love to do on the weekend and I have been discovering some very cool new things and places that weren’t on my radar before. I’m really excited to be able to share it with the viewers as well,” said Donalee.

Curtis, a media personality, new media content producer and emcee, brings a fresh face to the local broadcast landscape. Her vibrant personality and quick wit makes her the perfect (and most entertaining) tour guide for all your weekends.

Look out for a new episode of the wkndr tv every Friday morning on iVutv.com, along with your favourite weekend guide delivered right to your inbox.

What is your typical weekend?Friday is definitely a no cooking day! Kick the ‘bud-get’ to the curb and spend that moulah. It’s also spent deciphering which one of Kingston’s many restaurants will be the choice for that evening, fol-lowed by a drinking spot and maybe some club-bing.

Saturdays = ‘Satdeh’ soup! We’re either in the kitchen making it (usually some conch soup) or we go to The Whitehouse Restaurant for some yummy red peas soup. That is, if we don’t have an event to go to with our Bad Dawg Sausage Cart. It’s Bigga, Badda, Betta - so look out for us at a venue near you.

Sunday is anything goes. From taking a drive up to Holywell via dirt trail or a beach day at Maiden Cay with family, friends, nu" food and drinks.

Do you have a weekend must see/do/eat?Dim Sum with the family is a must do/eat on Sundays. It’s a time for everyone to catch up.

What has been your best weekend ever?MoBay weekends are always memorable! We stay on our boat docked at the MoBay Yacht Club - Sarasota. We usually go out by ’Ville, drop anchor and spend the day between there and Doctor’s Cave Beach. A MoBay trip wouldn’t be complete without some Pier 1, Scotchies, Pelican and The House Boat.

Who are your weekends spent with?Family and friends. We usually have a barbeque on the weekends. Simon lights up a mean grill smoking any meat with his new obsession for hickory or mesquite wood chips, while I’m in the kitchen making everything else that goes along with it.

What would be your ideal weekend?Anything involving sun, sea and sand.

What spot/event/ activity would you recommend for any given weekend?EITS Café. We recently discovered this little nook in the hills that is so worth the drive. The food is great, the view is breathtaking and the ambiance is just the topping on the cake. Thanks Ricky and Tamia.

’ve always heard about the tacos at Chilitos but didn’t really get a chance

to visit until recently. Feeling adventur-ous, I decided to try three di"erent types, in hopes of sampling as many as possible. Even though I was very pleased with the jerked chicken and beef, the one that stood out the most on my palette was the vege-tarian. Anybody who knows me knows that I’m a meat girl, but this time around meat-less took the top spot. I’m pretty sure my digestive system was celebrating!

With a hard or soft shell and deliciously stewed beans as your base for the vegetar-ian taco, you choose what add-ons you’ll include, ranging from lettuce, salsa, cheese, and a variety of sauces. Don’t go expecting a bellyful, unless you stack up on about 10 or so tacos. But that would seem greedy so I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that. Truth be told, it really is a quick and easy bite that is perfect if you’re feeling a bit ‘peckish’ but not completely hungry.
