The Caravaner
Welcome to LaPaz County ParkLive Oak in December
Wow! We had great weather this year and not like last year when we froze our tootsies.
There were 77 rigs and that figure included four guests.Hopefully everyone enjoyed playing Mr. and Mrs.
Right. I’m sure everyone knows their left from their right after the brown bag gift exchange.
Of course our annual washer toss tournament was held on Friday. We had a large number of spectators root-ing for their favorite people. Sue Mercer and Guy Rich-ards came in first place with Merlin Thimlar and Frances Smith in second place. What a surprise when John Mail-liard showed up at caravan and ran the tournament like old times.
On Friday evening we had our Christmas Pot Luck Mixer. There was a lot of delicious food wait-ing for us to devour. After everyone went through the line there was almost nothing left. Everyone was assigned a potluck table upon arrival at caravan and it was fun to find out who your table partners were (after all, it was a ‘mixer’). After dinner Don, Rose-mary and Frances gave out some great door prizes.
Overall, the Webbs and Smiths hope everyone enjoyed the decorations and tree and we truly hope everyone had a good time because we sure did.

Terry’s Tech TalkTech Talk Article 93 Rear Bath Wardrobe Door January, 2016

Terry Tanner Rig #2779
Several times in my 2001 Lazy Daze Rear Bath, the wardrobe door would open while I was driving along causing a minor in convenience. Several other Caravaners have told their tales of having the wardrobe door open and then having the drawers work their way out and preventing the door from being closed - thus lock-ing them out from the bathroom and refrigerator as well. There is a two inch opening above the top of the door and less than an inch opening at the bottom of the door. The hinges are hidden behind the wood trim. This makes for an interesting act of contortion to try and work the drawers back in so the wardrobe door can be closed again. A safety issue also comes into play here: What if someone inside the bathroom had opened the wardrobe door for privacy and fell against the door and was unable to get up, then how would one get ac-cess in a timely manner to help them?
So I measured down 49 inches from the top of the door and drew a horizontal cut line. I decided to cut the door in place and not risk breaking the mirror trying to get the door out of the rig and back in again. Also I was working alone and did not want to balance the door and reattach the hinges at the same time. I screwed a guide board to the door below the cut line, offset for the distance between the circular saw blade and the edge guide for the saw. I made a clean cut across the door until the saw was obstructed by the wood trim just beyond the door jam. This left about two inches to finish the cut with a hand saw. The door consists of an inch and a half vertical board at each edge of the door while the body of the door is solid foam with a wood veneer panel on each face. After the cut, the door still seems to be solid. I removed the lower part of the door and relocated the two hinges to the upper part of the door. I drilled a hole in each end of a “café” curtain rod and attached it to the bottom edge of the door just above the cut on the dinette side of the door. The hardware that came with the curtain rod was too bulky. I attached the curtain rod with a dry wall screw in each end. I bought two 27” x 52” bath towels to use as a privacy curtain. The towels are doubled over the curtain rod as shown below:
I then installed a “Full Turn Button” for each of the three drawers as indicated by the “Arrows” in the left photo above. When the Full Turn Button is in the horizontal position, the drawer can be opened as shown above. When the Full Turn Button is in the vertical position, the drawer is locked closed for travel. The Full Turn Button is usually found in the screen door section of the hardware store.
The “Full Turn Button”
