The Leader In Me Presentation
THE LEADER IN ME program is an innovative, school-wide program
that empowers children to reach their full potential. Based upon
Steven Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, this program
teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students.
Nativity’s faculty, staff and school commission are beginning to learn
about The Leader in Me program and studying the feasibility of
incorporating this 4-year program into our school by participating in
a book study of the program, visiting Leader In Me schools and
attending a Leader in Me Symposium.
We invite parents to join us on this journey! Please watch a video of
a 5th grade student at a The Leader In Me school in New York who
shares her thoughts on leadership by clicking on this link.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8NwplzFjYE
We also ask that you save Wednesday, January 20th at 7 p.m. to
attend an overview of the program with Rachael Whitlock,
representative from Franklin Covey Education.

Go Tell It On the Mountain Was AWESOME!!!
The Nativity 2015 Christmas Concert is now part of our history book. Both
performances of the concert yesterday were excellent!
I am so very proud of all of the students who participated in the show – First
Grade, Third Grade, Fifth Grade, the Beginning and Advanced Bands, the 5th
Grade Recorder Choir, the 8th Grade Quintet and Sarah Miller’s solo, and the
4th & 5th Grade Choir – they all worked very hard and were able to rise to the
challenges I presented to them! And challenges abounded!
First Grade had to learn all new songs and lots of words and motions! Third
Grade had to learn to play bells and read music – and they sang in three-part
harmony! Fifth Grade learned lots of words and some challenging
choreography. Also, they provided our marvelous MC’s and the characters for
our living Nativity. The Recorder Choir learned how to play four other sizes of
recorders (and the fingerings were all different from what they already knew).
Our 8th Grade quintet sang a cappella – and it was really hard to sing without
accompaniment.
The new band students have only played since the end of September – I was so
excited that we could tell what songs they played! And the Advanced Group
played difficult tunes very well, too. Finally, the 4th and 5th Grade Choir sang in
two- and three-part harmony and wowed me with their awesome rendition of
our theme song, “Go Tell It On the Mountain” led by 8th grader Sarah Miller!
WOW!
Truly we are blessed at Nativity with so much musical talent. And I love how our
students are so willing to work hard to do their absolute best. The results
provided a special Christmas gift to our Nativity community in the form of the
shows. (I am the luckiest music teacher in the world!)

Thank you to all who worked so hard to make these concert “gifts” a reality. I
have heard from many people how they were touched by our show.
Special thanks to all who helped set-up and tear down our stage. Our sound
team was awesome! I couldn’t do any production without the help of so many
parents, grandparents, and student volunteers. This concert was no exception.
Have a blessed Christmas season and let the music of this time of year continue
to be the backdrop for your family as you create your new Christmas memories.
God bless! Mrs. Hamm, Music Educator
