Dear Praying Friends, We finally made it! Almost 17 months of deputation, and we are officially in Costa Rica! Over the past month, we have had a rush of events leading to our departure. From the final few meetings on the southeastern coast, to preaching at a youth camp in West Texas, a wonderful ordination/commissioning service at our home church, some happy goodbyes complete with tears and extra-long hugs, we are here where God has called us to serve. Looking back on the process, we can see God’s hand moving the entire way. From the difficulties, the breakdowns, to the joyful moments, the refreshing mission conferences, to the mundane moments waiting around between meetings, God was there preparing us to begin a ministry here that would be exactly what He would have for us to do. We want to thank each and every church who gave us a chance to present our vision, even if you did not take us on, we still thank you for the opportunity to hopefully plant a seed in someone’s heart that they too would have a greater burden for missions and the lost in general. We just pray that God has been glorified in all we have done thus far. So, once you are here, what do you do? You begin to adjust and find out what life is all over again! We have moved into a house, well mostly. We have moved into a house with what we brought in our suitcases, the rest of our belongings will arrive via a cargo ship container in the next few weeks. Our kids are the very happiest we have seen them! They have a house and a yard to run and play in and are enjoying life to the fullest! We have stayed busy getting around the community buying groceries and the extras we need to setup housekeeping, including a cat named Tito! The kids simply love having a cat along with the dog we brought with us. We have internet and local mobile service as of last week. We currently are riding with UBER’s to get around as we still do not have a car yet, and have gotten the chance to share Christ with a few of these already! We are waiting for some more funds that have been promised to come in so that we can move ahead with the purchase of a vehicle. Much thanks to all who have given to this project! We are expecting to purchase in the next 2-3 weeks. We know God will provide! Other than this, we have already begun to plan our first sessions of in-home Bible Studies in English as we will be starting language study in August. Some prayer requests we have currently are for the final funds for a vehicle, that God would provide more contacts as we begin outreach, and that all of our belongings arrive in a timely fashion and that the customs process will not be too lengthy or costly, because you really never know! We came to Costa Rica on 83% of our optimum support level, so we are praying that the final 17% would come in. If you feel led to become a monthly partner either individually or corporately as a church, please feel free to send your support made out to the World Baptist Fellowship Mission Office-PO BOX 13459-Arlington, TX 76094 with “WATKINS” in the memo. This would be a huge blessing no matter the amount! Thank you for joining us as we seek to reach the unreached and unchurched in Costa Rica all for the glory to the name of Jesus Christ! May much fruit abound to your account as you pray and give to see the Kingdom of God furthered!
