DESCRIPTION
In mid-1970s suburban Detroit, Ronald Lisbon, his wife and their five daughters: 13 year old Cecilia, 14 year old Lux, 15 year old Bonaventure AKA Bonnie, 16 year old Mary and 17 year old Therese, are living their lives as devout but ultra strict Catholics, that summer youngest daughter Cecilia attempts suicide by slitting her wrists with a razor blade and later succeeds by jumping out of a window during a party, Ronald and his wife stop at nothing to keep an close eye of the four surviving daughters, restricting them from the typical liberties of their fellow peers: driving in cars, socializing with the opposite gender even going one step further by prohibiting them from attending the upcoming homecoming dance until Trip Fontaine charms Ronald into having a change of heart-- and it works. But on the night of the homecoming dance, the family dynamic changes after Lux and Trip are crowned Homecoming Queen and King, they sneak out to the football field and have sex for the first time, as a result Lux misses curfew and she, along with the three older daughters, are placed in total home-based lockdown even pulled out of their Catholic high school and it takes a toll on the girls which leads them to taking a drastic measure: ending their lives.
