2019 Business Licence
Is required to operate a commercial/industrial business, rental units or spaces, home occupation or
mobile business.
Average annual cost is $50
2019 Annual Dog Licence
Is required over 8 months old.
Spayed/neutered $15.00 per dog
Non-spayed/neutered $30.00 per dog
Replacement tags $2.50 per dog
Licences can be purchased at the Village Office, 1061 Marine Drive
Sidewalk & Footbridge Winter Maintenance Policy
2018-2019 Winter Season
During the 2018-2019 winter season, please be aware that the Village of
Port Alice does not remove snow and/or ice from the public sidewalks in
the village.
When the sidewalks and/or footbridges are covered with snow and/or ice they are very slippery. Please use extreme caution
when walking on them. Under the policy the Public Works Crew is directed to clear the footbridges only , and only after the
major roads and streets have been cleared.
We regret this inconvenience brought on by forces of nature, and remind you to use extreme caution when using the
sidewalks and footbridges during the winter, and that you are doing so at your own risk.
This notice is published in accordance with Village of Port Alice
Sidewalk & Footbridge Maintenance Policy Code No. 4.3.b.
Residents… a few guidelines to: Help keep our streets clean: Use bear-proof cans with secure lids, to prevent crows, bears and other animals from creating a mess (Garbage bags alone, not in a receptacle, are NOT permitted). Residents are responsible for cleaning up spilled garbage in front of their homes. And keep our garbage collector safe and happy: A single can should be maximum 50 pounds (22 kg) Kitty litter and woodstove ashes can add significant weight, please balance weight between cans accordingly. Please note: overweight cans may not be picked up. Reminder: Wet or Dry... Cardboard must not be placed in any garbage container!

TRANSFER STATION NOTICE
The Village Of Port Alice Transfer Station at the Public Works Yard is
for residential use only.
Contractors must dispose of waste at the 7 Mile Landfill.
Home demo/reno waste is accepted but limited to one truckload per
week.
Wood waste must be clean.
The Transfer Station does not accept drywall or asphalt roofing tiles.

This is for parent(s)/caregivers to participate with your
young child/children (aged birth to 5yrs) in play-based
early learning activities, including stories, music and
art.
There is no cost for this early learning drop-in program
which helps prepare children for success in kindergar-
ten.

CALM WATERS CAFÉ -- Wednesday to Saturday 8:00 am - 11:30 a.m
The café will be open again on January 9th, 2019.
DEW GROUP – DIET, EXERCISE AND WELLNESS --Thursday mornings at 10:00. Join the
group to talk about issues around health and wellness.
LEGION BAR – Bar hours are 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Off Sales are available during
business hours. Come out and play pool, throw some darts and socialize. Dart League will be
staring soon. Watch for details.
MEAT DRAWS - Every Thursday and Friday evening we have a meat draw. Tickets are
$1.00 each. Draws worth at least $30.00!
MEMBERSHIP -- Membership gives you discounts at many businesses, helps veterans and

The Community Centre Staff would like to say a great big
thank you to all the Volunteers, young and old, who have
helped with the set up, clean up and their overall time to help
make the events great throughout the year. Plus to our fellow
workers for helping to get things done.
Also to the many businesses and residents who have donated
money, goods and resources to help keep our events special. We
are very lucky to live in this community and to experience
what it has to offer.
We look forward to seeing what 2019 will bring. Keep a look
out for new programs and events as the year goes on.

The Port Alice Wood Stove Exchange Program is
designed to encourage residents to exchange their old,
inefficient, non-EPA certified wood burning appliances for
new EPA-certified wood burning stoves and inserts, and
other qualifying appliances including gas, pellet and
electric. (Some exceptions apply).
Port Alice residents who exchange their old wood-burning
appliance for one qualified under the Program, are
eligible to receive a $250 rebate, providing that the old
stove will be decommissioned and recycled.
