Welcome to the 2018 Nillumbik Seniors Festival. The theme of this year’s Victorian Seniors Festival is ‘Get Social’. Regardless of background, experience or mobility, everyone is

encouraged to take part to learn new skills and make new friends in our community.

Nillumbik supports the broader Statewide Festival through our own program of events as we celebrate the vital role seniors play in making Nillumbik a great place to live, work and visit.

Something we are very proud of in Nillumbik is our high life expectancy rate in comparison to the Victorian average. Being active and engaged not only benefits seniors, but also the broader Nillumbik community, which is all the richer for the contributions made to community groups, business organisations and sporting clubs by our seniors.

This Festival celebrates and values their influence and input. We have a program packed with opportunities to enjoy yourself, experience something new and get moving through the variety of exercise and fitness sessions available.

With interesting activities such as a volunteer expo, travel safe training, information forums, health and fitness classes and a range of social events, October is promising to be a very busy month.

I encourage you to embrace this year’s theme and ‘Get Social’. Take a look through the 2018 program and try something new, meet someone new, and use this opportunity to enjoy the events dedicated to you.

Mayor, Cr Peter Clarke
