THE OVERTURESSponsored by the West Valley Light Opera Association, the

OVERTURES supply high class musical entertainment for civic, fraternal and business groups as well as for private parties.

This group of talented young people should be seen to beappreciated. If you are contemplating musical entertainment such asthe Overtures have to offer, they will be glad to arrange for yourrepresentative to visit with them at one of their rehearsals in order tojudge the quality and scope of their work.

For further information call Mrs. "B. J." Publicover at 252-3658 orMarge Hand at 356-7340.

THE AUXILIARYThe Auxiliary of the West Valley Light Opera Association has

operated for the past four years, at which time it succeeded anorganization known simply as "The Group."

Perhaps the greatest challenge to the Auxiliary lies in preparing thetheatre lobby and hosting the Champagne Gala for Members' Night, usually opening night of each production; less glamorous, but stillnecessary, is the operation of the refreshments concession in the lobbyduring the performances, for this is a principal means of raising moneyfor the Auxiliary. More attractive to many is the opportunity to helpback stage with costuming, handling properties, designing and paintingsets and drops, making up the cast members, etc. Other forms ofactivities include ushering, box office work, publicity, telephoning, obtaining program advertising, poster distribution, ticket and member-ship selling, and in many other ways, something rewarding for all.

Please telephone Mrs. Flo Colvan at 867-9460 or the office at356-6410 for information regarding membership.

REGARDING MOLLY BROWN

"Molly" Brown was a real person; born Margaret Tobin, in Hannibal,Missouri, she was nicknamed Molly. She married John James Brown in Leadville,Colorado.

The J. J. Browns had a son named Lawrence and a daughter named Helen, which information appears neither in the book nor in the play.

Due to Johnny's hard work 'and Irish luck, the Browns became quite'wealthy and did live and travel exclusively abroad.

Molly Brown was a passenger on board S/S TITANIC on its ill-fated maidenvoyage from Southampton, England, bound for New York. On the night of April14-15, 1912, the great ship struck an iceberg in the north Atlantic and sank withthe loss of 1,517 lives. Advertised as being "unsinkable," the ship did sink butMolly did not and the term "unsinkable" was transferred to Molly. Written up inthe press of the day, Molly was credited with calming the frightened passengerswho shared the lifeboat in which she abandoned ship.
