Whether you begin working on a freelance basis, jointhe staff of a company, start a business, or operate a homebusiness, you need to work as if you were working for theLord.

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, asworking for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you willreceive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the LordChrist you are serving” (Colossians 3:23-24NIV ).

The way you do your work every day provides thebest exterior reection of your inner commitment to servethe Lord in a real, physical way. Your true Christian beliefs

will be reected more clearly on the job than in any otherenvironment outside of your immediate family relationships.

So, once you begin working again, be God’s emissaryin the workplace. Avoid bad attitudes about your job, becauseGod’s Word implies that there is dignity in all types of work.It does not elevate one honest profession above another.

Furthermore, jobs aren’t merely tasks whereby youcan earn money. They also are a means by which you can useyour talents and abilities to develop godly character.

Don’t view your job with drudgery, don’t resentothers’ success, and don’t believe that you must be recognizedfor everything you do. Workers whose bosses praise themmost highly are usually the ones who require the least praise.Receive your praise from God, because He is your real boss.

Yield your rights to Christ, and as a result, the world will get a glimpse of Him through you.“For whoever exaltshimself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will beexalted” (Matthew 23:12 NIV ). “No one lights a lamp and then

puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, whereit gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your

good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise yourheavenly Father” (Matthew 5:15-16 NLT ).

• When we receive Christ, we experience a new birth,according to John 3:1-8.

We receive Christ by personal invitation. Jesus said,“Behold I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voiceand opens the door, I will come in to him” (Revelation 3:20NASB).

Receiving Christ involves turning to God from self(repentance) and trusting Christ to come into our lives toforgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be.

Just to agree intellectually that Jesus Christ is theSon of God and that He died on the cross for our sins is notenough. Nor is it enough to have an emotional experience.

We receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of the will. You can receive Christ right now by faith through

prayer. God knows your heart and is not so concerned withyour words as He is with the attitude of your heart. The

following is a suggested prayer.

“Lord Jesus, I need You. Tank You fordying on the cross for my sins. I openthe door of my life and receive You asmy Savior and Lord. Tank You for

forgiving my sins and giving me eternallife. ake control of the throne of mylife. Make me the kind of person You

want me to be.”
