The Underground Railroad, was a vast network of people who helped escaped slaves from the South of the USA to reach the safety to the North andCanada.

Where was the underground railroad?

Rich, Poor, Black, White, powerful people, ordinary people – many 1000’s of Americans chose to help runaway slaves to Freedom. Some simply provided a place to stay overnight and some food, others were involved in encouraging escapes and actually campaigning against slavery.
