The Turtle Times Dear Parents/Carers, Our major Musical Performance ‘Once Upon a Time….where are they now?’ was a huge success with children, staff and audience having a great time. The production was videoed and this will be edited with credits added and will be for sale through our reception in term 4. Further information about this will be in our first newsletter next term. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the night special for their children. I am very proud of everyone involved especially Ms Danielle Banicek who was the key driver of the production. She wrote, produced, directed, organised the lighting and sound, videoed the offsite component and worked closely with teachers and classes too. She is the Amazing Ms Banicek, we couldn’t do it without her. As we will be moving into the hotter time of year when we return on Tuesday 6 th October please ensure your children have a water bottle and have a school hat for playtimes. Term 4 will be a very important time for wrapping up the years learning so attendance every day is vital for all children from preschool to year 6. If your child is ill you need to call the absentee line and advise us so we can appropriately mark the roll. As most of you are aware we are at capacity at Rosebery Primary School now and we are trying to plan for 2016. If you are leaving Rosebery next year I would encourage you to inform Reception as soon as you are aware please as we have waiting lists for most classes next year. The other issue that arises in a big busy school is there is a lot of movement at the end of the day with children leaving school to go home at 2.20pm. I strongly encourage all parents to be responsible and stick to our speed limits, only park in designated parking spaces and do not park in the kiss and go areas. We have been working hard with the Palmerston City Council to try and address the issue of safe crossing spaces on Forrest Parade. There is still a need for children to know what route to take to and from school particularly in the crossing of Forrest Parade, please discuss this with your children in the holiday break. We are again able to offer the highly recommended Triple P Positive Parenting Program here at Rosebery Primary School starting on 10 th November from 5.30pm for 4 weeks. There is no cost to parents for this 4 week course and I strongly encourage you to consider it. We will be running these session in the new preschool. Please email [email protected] your expression of interest by 30 th October. This week’s Parenting Ideas article is worth reading as it is about ‘How to raise a child to be a giver’. We work hard at Rosebery Primary School to ensure children understand how to collaborate and co-operate with others and to show respect. This article supports this notion and will hopefully be a great prompt or guide for you which aligns very closely with how we manage things at school. Enjoy the week break.
