Introduction

• The Tree House is a non-profit after school program with a 501(c)(3) status for children ages 5 through 12 and accredited by the Department of education.

• Our commitment is to keep children safe when an adult is not available to supervise.

We offer tutoring for children who are having a difficult time understanding material covered in class.

• Life skills counseling assists our older children transition from our program to being able to safely stay home alone.

• Counseling can also be initiated for pre-teen on the brink of high school to assist with the transition.

We have been recognized with a proclamation by the local police for the work we do to keep children from mischief once the school day ends.

Problem Statement

The recent Phi Delta Kappa Poll regarding public attitudes toward education shows that 70% of Americans blame societal factors for challenges facing our current student population, especially those between the ages of 5 to 12. Local clergy, police, teachers, and parents are concerned for the children when school hours end and parental supervision is not available to offer guidance. The post school hours are one of the societal factors that are a reality for parents whether it is a single parent or dual parent household.

exacerbate normal day to day living. In town meeting community members have voiced their concerns as children in this age group being left alone is more the norm than the exception.

The Tree House is a after school program that provides a safe, loving, supervised environment for the most vulnerable age group 5-12 years old. Children will be given the opportunities to excel socially and educationally. Healthy after school snacks, adult supervision in a save secure setting, and mentors to assist with homework are the main ingredients. In addition, there will be age appropriate games that will encourage physical

and mental activities. Children who graduate from the program after age 12 will be experienced at structuring their after school time, better homework habits and feel safe at home with the confidence they have earned.

Security and safety of clients

To have parents and guests sign in and out of the log book.

Parents must give names and a written permission to have someone other than themselves pick up their children when they are not available.

Every parent and child and must wear name tags.

Every parent and others must get a signature from a staff member verifying that child has been pick up by the parent or other.

The door to the Tree House will be locked and those who wish to come in must ring the bell and show identification cards.

Objectives The Tree House provides children between the

ages of 5-12 with a unique opportunity to further their education after school hours. It is our goal to create a safe and secure environment where parents can have the comfort of knowing their son or daughter is not alone at home. In order to maximize the children experience, our highly qualified staff has established a list of goals and objectives the Tree House plans to follow in hopes your child grow to their full potential.

We believe the best way to keep children involved as well as feeling excited to learn is through the benefits of educational activities.

Admissions Coordinator has provided the Tree House with only the best Elementary teachers to assist with running the classroom. Our tutors work side-by-side with the teachers usually on a volunteer basis. The Program Coordinator as well as Activities Coordinator see to any and all interested volunteers or interns who are looking for an enhanced and fulfilling experience. Our Fund raising Coordinator works long hours ensuring that the Tree House stays functioning by brainstorming new and creative opportunities for raising money.

Outcomes

With such tight and well established goals, the Tree House expects only the best and most positive outcomes to occur not only for the children themselves but as a community at large. Our outcomes for success include but are not limited to:

Methods At the Tree House we plan to open our doors in

10 months or November 1, 2012 The time line we have includes painting, purchasing furniture and supplies, creating brochures and hiring staff between January and October 2012. In January, our space and funding searches begins and hope to sigh the lease by March and secure our initial funding.

The next logical step is to complete any necessary renovation to build a safe, inviting and comfortable environment for the children. Once administrative staff is in place we will assemble policies and procedures that meet the Board of Education's standards and recruit our volunteer Board of Directors.

To date we have commitments for several parents, a teacher, a lawyer, a chaplain and an accountant to start our board.

The hiring of our administrative team include: Director of Admissions, Wellness Coordinator, Administration Director and a Program Director.

Once the administrative team is in place that team will hire the service delivery staff that includes Tutors, and Activity Coordinator, a Nurse, and Nutrition Consultant. At the same time our Executive Director will be speaking at local parents groups, churches and synagogues to get our marketing plan launched.

Our needs assessment proved that an after school program is needed in the Lower Gwynedd community. Our target population is children (boys and girls) who are in grades K-8th grades.

This will be achieved by developing programs that include educational activities, tutoring, life skills and

The total cost of our program is $100,000 this $45,000 has been committed by the Department of Education and other foundations. This request is for the balance of $55,000.
