Traffic Safety Situation In the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Jordan, like other countries, suffers from the problem of traffic accidents, where during the year 2017, a (150226) total traffic accidents including (10446) injuries and fatalities accidents were registered. The results from these accidents:

Main Authorities In Jordan
1. traffic Legislations
The Convention 1968 and Geneva Convention 1949 on Road Traffic were taken into account in the preparation of Jordan legislations in accordance with the Jordanian version (Traffic Law No. 49 of 2008 and the regulations and instructions issued there under).
In year 1949 , Jordan approved on Geneva Convention and ratified on it in year 1960.
In year 1973 Jordan approved on Vienna Convention Through ratification by the League of Arab States .
The Jordanian Traffic Law and the Road Rules and Traffic Regulations
have included many legal provisions for road users (children, people with special needs and
the elderly)
The Traffic Points System has been issued for many dangerous traffic
fines
The new Jordanian Traffic
Law is in the process of issued
The driver, when approaching the
pedestrian crossing, should enables them to pass through safely and
stop the vehicle.
Children under 10 years of age should not be left inside the vehicle if the vehicle is in operation
without any companion (supervisor )
Children under the age of 10 are not
allowed to sit in the front seats in
passenger cars and Dual Purpose
Vehicles.

➢Construction a lot of traffic parks and we are in the process of establishing an educational center for children simulating the projects of the traffic village.
➢Conducting many seminars, conferences, workshops and awareness campaigns for all segments of society
2. Education and traffic awareness
➢ Implementing traffic awareness programs through various media.
➢ Raising Conducting many courses and seminars for teachers and supervisors in schools to train and rehabilitate them in many traffic activities.
➢ Encouraging citizens to use the public transportation
➢ Raising awareness for pedestrians to cross the road from the correct places and sensitize drivers to give the pedestrians their priority
➢ Introducing some traffic concepts educational for school curricula
➢ The introduction of a curriculum on traffic safety in one of the university and we are in the process of circulating this curriculum to many public and private universities

The expansion of traffic enforcement in all its forms, specifically the automatic enforcement of many roads located within the cities, especially the roads that are witnessing pedestrians.

RecommendationsIn order to improve the traffic environment and improve the level of traffic safety in the
Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the following recommendations should be implemented:
Raise coordination with partners in the traffic process.
Promote and raise the efficiency of the public transport sector.
Continue to expand automated surveillance and using intelligent transportation system (ITS).
Continue to coordination with universities, research centers and studies to carry out studies and scientific researches to
get recommendations for the traffic problems in Jordan.
Establishing traffic parks throughout Jordan, specially establishing a traffic education center for children.
Continued….Recommendations
Introducing all traffic concepts in educational curriculum and for all levels of education.
Continue to provide safety requirements for pedestrians and Continue to Work on the separation of movement between the movement of pedestrians and vehicles
Continue to promote awareness, education and training in traffic safety.
