INTErNATIONAL FOOD FEST19 & 20 January 2019

The Quayside fiesta was back with

a Foodie Extravaganza! It was a

unique gastronomical experience

with delicacies from Malaysia, Japan,

Korea, China, Thailand, India, Italy,

Germany, Spain, United Kingdom,

Mexico, United States, Saudi Arabia,

Hong Kong and Taiwan. The visitors

were treated to a weekend filled

with great food and entertaining

live performances.

A JOUrNEY TO PrOSPErITY23 & 24 February 2019

About 3,500 visitors went on ‘A Journey to Prosperity’

at twentyfive.7 this Chinese New Year and explored the

40ft-long Giant Ship of Prosperity docked at The Lake.

Fireworks made the evening even more memorable

with the Giant Ship as the backdrop for at least a few

thousand selfies!

People came from near and far to

the Health & Wellness Family Fiesta.

Who are marc et Farid?

Farid: We share the same

professional background.

I studied medical sciences

and Mark is a researcher and

biochemist. I’ve always had

a love for cooking, baking

and creating new recipes.

As for Mark, he’s absolutely

crazy about patisserie and,

as a scientist, he’s more

motivated about the molecular

makeup of the patisseries.

The Buzz spoke with Farid Tawfik and

mark rosa to find out about the secret

ingredients that make their patisserie

just a little more special.

What makes marc et Farid

different from the rest?

Farid: We are passionate about

creating fine French patisserie

and viennoiseries as France is

world renowned for its refined

patisserie creations. We use

only high-quality ingredients,

many of which are sourced

from France as we try our best

to stay true to the tradition of

french bakers. At the same time,

we do also try to introduce

new flavours by infusing asian

ingredients as we believe that

they can complement the

palette of French flavours.

What are your best sellers?

Mark: We offer lots of new

flavours and a selection of

specialty cakes which you

don’t see every day in other

Malaysian bakeries. As for our

bestsellers, its a tie between

our French Paris-Brest and

the Opéra.

What does the future hold

for marc et Farid?

Mark: Our main goal is

to introduce authentic

French patisserie to as many

Malaysians as possible.

In fact, we do conduct classes

for people who would like

to share in our obsession.

We want them to not only fall

in love with this time honoured

artform, but more importantly

to also encourage them

to explore the fusion of

french and asian desserts.

We are currently in the midst

of creating macarons with

cempedak and durian flavours.
