Tommy at the Paramount Theatre in AuroraBased on "The Who’s" 1969 album, this one-of-a-kind rock opera is filled with bursting ballads, pulsating dance numbers, and mind exploding images. Tommy is a young boy who becomes deaf, dumb, and blind after witnessing his father murder his mother’s lover. His only form of communication becomes his pinball wizardry, and his talent propels him into the national spotlight. Comedy Sportz Looking for something new and different? Comedy Sportz is the longest running short form improv comedy show in Chicago. Enjoy a unique interactive show that enables you to vote for the red team or blue team with your laughter. The referee keeps track of the score on the Applause-o-meter and the team with the most laughs wins at the end of the show. After the show we’ll head over to The Gale Street Inn, famous for their BBQ ribs. Choose from BBQ ribs and baked potato, grilled salmon with orzo pasta and spinach, breast of chicken rosemary with garlic mashed potatoes or grilled London Broil with baked potato, and grilled vegetables. To help us serve you better, please have last year’s return paperwork available when you call to make your appointment. You were given an envelope and assigned either an A or B. Tell us which letter you were assigned when you make your appointment. Make an appointment starting on January 5 to have your taxes prepared by AARP volunteers. Appointments for this free service are available every Tuesday morning from February 3-April 7 starting at 8:30A. Defensive Drive – Note: New Location and DatesTake an 8 hour class run by an AARP instructor. 2015 dates include February 11 and 12, May 6 and 7, September 9 and 10, and December 9 and 10. Time: 8A-Noon. New location: Wheaton Park District Community Center, 1777 S. Blanchard Road, Wheaton (home of Rice Pool). Please note that classes are held on Wednesday and Thursday, and you must attend both days to receive your certificate. Cost: $15 with AARP card; $20 without an AARP card. Intermediate Bridge – Defense at BridgeDefense is the hardest part of bridge. Learn to talk to each other by the cards you play, using attitude, count, and suit preference. Sunshine Luncheon Let the sunshine in! Wear your sunny best for this beloved annual event at Brookdale Glen Ellyn (formerly The Meadows). The chef has created a special menu, including cream of carrot soup, roast sirloin, oven roasted potatoes, fresh asparagus, and black forest cake for dessert. After lunch, sit back and enjoy the sweet sounds of Roxanne Anzelone, performing top hits from the 40s, 50s, and 60’s. Don’t miss this fun, upbeat, and entertaining show. Chair Yoga Learn a series of yoga poses that benefit your mind, body, and spirit while sitting in a chair. Optional poses while standing are included in the class. Benefits include better balance, posture, increased range of motion, reduced blood pressure, and more. Instructor Lesley Brown has been teaching yoga, pilates, and group fitness for 17 years, specializing in senior classes for the last 5 years. She takes a practical approach to yoga and considers it a wonderful life management tool. It has helped her manage challenging diseases such as cancer and diabetes. She will help you manage your challenges by modifying movement for hip, knee and shoulder issues, or limitations due to surgeries, injuries, etc. While very serious about the benefits of yoga and exercise, Lesley’s classes are fun and filled with gentle humor and practical tips on how to bring the benefits of yoga and movement into your everyday life.
