What Is the Sun?The sun is a medium-sized star that is 4.5 billionyears old. It is 75% hydrogen and 25% helium.
The Size of the SunIf you hollowed out the sun, you could put 1million Earths in it. It is 93,000,000 miles from theEarth. The light from the sun travels very fast. Ittakes only 8 minutes to reach the Earth.
The Planets and the SunThere are eight planets in our solar system:Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn,Uranus, and Neptune. Pluto was considered aplanet until 2006. Our knowledge of space is stillgrowing.
