A chassis load-bearing capacity of six tonnes is a statement of intent. The Canter 8.55 t takes such weight in its stride, followed close on its heels by the 7.5 t variant with a chassis load-bearing capacity of 5 t. Both are also extremely agile – because they are lighter than the competition. A high load-bearing capacity is not the only accommodating merit offered by the Canter: its low entrance is a benefi t for drivers whose work entails them frequently climbing into and out of the cab. The new DUONIC 2.0 dual clutch transmission, standard specifi cation on the 8.55 t and optional on the 7.5 t, enables swift gear-shifting without any loss of power and its numerous body variants add up to exceptional fl exibility. And if a chassis load-bearing capacity of up to 6 t is not adequate for your needs, you can additionally uprate the Canter with a towing capacity of up to 3.5 t. The next task is always the toughest? The Canter is a model of robust efficiency – but should you ever need help, you can rely on us. For example, you get a warranty for five years1 or 150,000 km (whichever comes first). The maintenance interval of 40,000 km (or once a year) saves you both time and money. Have we convinced you? Maintenance packages. The stricter Euro VI emission standard notwithstanding, the maintenance intervals for the Canter have been stabilised at 40,000 km (or once a year). Items that require regular checks (oil, brake fluid and windscreen washer fluid) are accessible in the cab, making inspections a quick, easy and clean task. Our tilt-cab design (for single cabs) also ensures trouble-free access to all engine parts.

Dense pan-European service network. Thanks to our tightly knit service network with more than 800 service stations in Europe, you get all maintenance and repair work and other services quickly, at a reasonable price and in a standard process, harmonised throughout Europe. The Canter is big on comfort. Inside, everything is tailored to the driver’s and co-driver’s comfort needs. The noise-insulated, well-sprung cab makes longer journeys just as pleasant as short trips. And if you are involved in delivery work and have to get in and out frequently, you will not want to do without the low entrance with only one step.

The interior. Your favourite new workplace. The interior is impressively spacious, with room for three persons or as many as seven in the crewcab, and with a high-quality, harmonious design concept. A level cab floor throughout and the shift lever integrated into the black and grey dashboard facilitate through-cab access. Ergonomic Isringhausen seats in black provide firm support and offer the ultimate in comfort, even on longer trips. A driver’s suspension seat is fitted as standard.

Everything within easy reach. The ergonomically arranged stowage facilities and the LED lighting on the roof liner provide for a neat and tidy interior in which everything is clearly visible. The infinitely adjustable steering wheel with high-quality chrome applications, multifunction lever and optional cruise control can be positioned according to the individual driver’s height, ensuring that all important functions are ideally reachable and providing for all-round pleasant driving conditions.

Eco Mode and Hill Start Assist feature as standard. The new low-maintenance, low-wear DUONIC® 2.0 dual clutch transmission comes with Eco Mode and Hill Start Assist as standard. While DUONIC® 2.0 always selects the right gear for the lowest fuel consumption, Eco Mode enables further fuel savings by means of early shifting. Hill Start Assist provides support when moving off on an uphill gradient with a heavy load. Innovations that enable fuel-efficient and safe driving particularly in urban traffic – for inexperienced drivers, too.

Parking lock function and manual shift option. DUONIC® 2.0 offers a parking lock function to secure your Canter when it is parked. You also have the option of manually shifting up and down through all six gears.

The Canter is big on practical benefits. Its functional operating system is designed to make your work as easy as possible. All the technical “helpers” have their assigned tasks within this system and are provided with clearly marked controls. From the optionally automatic or manual air conditioning for an ideal work climate to standard-specification Eco Mode and Hill Start Assist when carrying heavy loads.

The cab’s climate control. For ideal air conditioning we offer you a choice of automatic climate control or a manual air conditioning system, additionally with separately controlled ventilation for the crewcab.

The cruise control function. Serves to maintain a constant vehicle speed or to prevent the truck from dropping below or exceeding speed limits. For relaxed driving above all on longer trips. Optionally available for all models with the DUONIC® 2.0 dual clutch transmission – except for the Canter Eco Hybrid.

A comfortable feel to the gearshift, with no interruption of tractive power, and minimal wear. The second, enhanced generation of the DUONIC® transmission stands not only for comfortable driving and simple handling, but also for intelligent solutions such as the crawl function for easier manoeuvring and Hill Start Assist to ensure the truck moves off smoothly on upward gradients. In conjunction with improved shifting logic, the standard-fit idle start/stop function (ISS) and the standard Eco Mode feature, with the new low-maintenance DUONIC® 2.0 dual clutch transmission not only do you drive more efficiently and eco-friendlier than before, you also save fuel and hard cash into the bargain.

Shifting without loss of power. We strive for continual improvement. That’s why the Canter not only complies with the Euro VI standard – it is also even more efficient owing to the standard-fit idle start/stop function (ISS). In addition, the new DUONIC® 2.0 dual-clutch transmission ensures shifting without interruption of tractive power and without the frictional losses which are familiar with conventional automatic transmissions.

The cab range and frame design. The Canter lends itself to individual configurations, with a choice of a two-metre-wide Comfort single cab or Comfort crewcab with 3.5 t, 6.5 t, 7.5 t or 8.55 t GVW. Featuring sophisticated protection against corrosion and optimised for weight, the frame nonetheless has a very high load-carrying capacity. With six wheelbases, body lengths of up to 7.2 metres, high axle loads and a chassis load capacity of up to six tonnes, we offer the ideal transport solution for you, too.

The frame – both robust and flexible. One and the same hole pattern on the ladder-type frame for all models renders the Canter extremely versatile, and makes it easier to attach bodies. The optional 24-volt interface and various power take-offs available ex factory, for driving hydraulic pumps or compressor units, ensure the Canter is game for anything.

With diesel engine or with hybrid drive – the Canter sets new standards in terms of technology and engineering, too. Featuring state-of-the-art common-rail technology and a variable-geometry turbocharger, the engine delivers high torque even at low revs. Add to this the advanced exhaust emission control system, which meets the new Euro VI standard, the standard-fit idle start/stop function as well as the new on-board diagnostics and the new high-pressure fuel injection system. Not only will you benefit from these innovations, the environment does, too – especially with the unbeatable Eco Hybrid combination of an efficient 3.0-litre engine and a powerful electric motor, whose performance and economy will make a lasting impression.

VGT and standard-fit exhaust brake. The variable-geometry turbocharger (VGT) optimises engine response and ensures constant high torque at low revs. The exhaust brake eases the strain on your vehicle’s brake pads and discs; on long downhill stretches the braking system’s workload is eased.

The emission control system. All engine variants have a closed, maintenance-free diesel particulate filter which regenerates itself automatically. If need be this can also be done manually. The exhaust gases are thus cleaned by a combination of oxidation catalytic converter and diesel particulate filter. BlueTec® 6 is also employed. As a result, all Canter models comply with the Euro VI standard.

Three powerful engines. Three efficient and economical output ratings are ready and waiting for you. What they all have in common is the improved torque curve at low revs – in every situation. • The 96 kW (130 hp) engine lays a firm foundation for your business activities.• The 110 kW (150 hp) engine combines economy with pulling power and

flexibility.• The 129 kW (175 hp) high-performance engine gives your Canter enough

power to handle even the most demanding tasks.

With the new Canter 4×4 it’s like in real life: you’re happy when you’re upwardly mobile! Because in demanding terrain the all-wheel drive assists you with powerful traction to make good headway. The tremendous slope climbing ability, the high ground clearance and the high payload and axle loads do much to make the Canter 4×4 a model of flexibility. With a single cab or crewcab, each with two wheelbases, plus the efficient 129 kW engine (175 hp) with BlueTec® 6, whose variable-geometry turbocharger (VGT) ensures optimum response and high torque even at low revs.

Payload capacity. The Canter 4×4 has a chassis load-bearing capacity of up to 3685 kg. With axle loads of up to six tonnes as well as an optional 24V interface and power take-offs ex factory, a large variety of body solutions can be realised.

The braking system. Firm intervention on the road, maximum deceleration in more demanding situations. Well protected against dust and dirt: the front and rear drum brakes decelerate the vehicle smoothly with ABS and electronic brake force distribution (EBD).

The all-wheel drive. The equal distribution of power to front and rear axles gives all wheels high traction. The all-wheel drive can be selected and deselected, making the system very flexible and efficient. Even better traction is ensured by the self-locking differential in conjunction with the selectable reduction gear. And when the front wheels are completely decoupled, wear, fuel consumption and turning circle diameter are reduced accordingly. Owing to its wide gear ratio spread, the transmission permits both slow driving in demanding off-road terrain and high speeds on the road.

Take-back of end-of-life vehicles. Coming full circle. At the end of its long life, you can return your Canter to us for environment-friendly disposal in accordance with the EC End-Of-Life Vehicle Directive. But that day lies a long way off.

The take-back of end-of-life vehicles applies in accordance with national regulations to vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight. The Canter has met the statutory regulations governing the suitability of their design for reuse and recycling for a number of years now. A network of vehicle take-back depots and dismantlers has been established which will process your vehicle in an environment-friendly manner. The ways in which both vehicles and parts can be recovered are subject to ongoing development and improvement. Consequently, the Canter will be able to comply with any future increases in the recycling quota within the stipulated time limits.
