Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6 (Beaumont) - Area had 45+ inches of rain in 5-day period.

- DD6 is not a typical "first responder,” but did aid multiple gov’t agencies including City of Beaumont.

- Using equipment acquired from FSP:- Transported large sandbags from the Sabine

Pass area using trailers and trucks to help save the City of Beaumont's water treatment plant.

- Used trailers & 140-ton Manitowoc crane to haul and load large boxes to set water pumps on at the City of Beaumont's water district.

- Retrofit a 6-inch water pump to provide the only source of water to fill fire trucks for the entire City of Beaumont. It was deemed so important that the fill site was manned 24 hours a day by fire department personnel.

- Used 5-ton and 2.5-ton trucks during and after the storm for recovery and observation of the District's assets and projects.

- Used a 15-ton crane to remove 6,000-lb electric motors that had been submerged by floodwaters. This work helped to get the water flowing again in Beaumont.

From Darin Auer, Shop Supervisor, “DD6 has always worked with local city and county entities during emergency events such as Hurricane Harvey, and we feel that the Federal Surplus property we have acquired through your program was truly an asset, and facilitated our ability to aid other in a time of great despair. This equipment never let us down through the entire event. It is also worth mentioning that DD6 could have never purchased most of this equipment out of our budget if it had not been for FSP. DD6 would have helped during the storm no matter what, but with the equipment purchased through the surplus system, I feel like DD6 really made a difference.”
