Our Opening Song is a
Scripture Song
From the book of
Psalms 34:11, 13-14 (KJV)
Come, ye children, hearken unto me:
I will teach you the fear of the LORD. (2 xs)
Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
Depart from evil, and do good;
Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile
seek peace, and pursue it.
Psalms 34: 11, 13 and 14
Come, ye children, hearken unto me:
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Come, ye children, hearken unto me:
I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
I will teach you
the fear of the LORD.
The Lord of the Sabbath!
Jesus Christ

Even the precious
creatures within
your gate!

This Sabbath boys and girls, we will continue with part 2 of
our lesson entitled, “Blessing the Children” in our study
book Desire of Ages!
Mark 10:15 (KJV)
Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive
the kingdom of God as
a little child, he
shall not enter
therein.
5
Mark 10:13 (KJV) And they brought young children
to him, that he should touch them:
and [his] disciples rebuked those
that brought [them].
Mark 10:14 (KJV) But when Jesus saw [it], he was much
displeased, and said unto them,
Suffer the little children to come
unto me, and forbid them not:
for of such is the kingdom of God.
Mark 10:16 (KJV) And he took them up in his arms,
put [his] hands upon them,
and blessed them.
Matthew 18:3 (KJV)
And said, Verily I say unto you,
Except ye be converted, and become
as little children, ye shall not enter
into the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:4 (KJV) Whosoever therefore shall
humble himself as this little
child, the same is greatest in
the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:5 (KJV) And whoso shall receive one
such little child in my name
receiveth me.
Ephesians 6:1 (KJV) Children, obey your parents
in the Lord: for this is right.
Proverbs 22:6 (KJV) Train up a child in the way he
should go: and when he is old,
he will not depart from it.
Today we’ll cover! Pages 512-516

In the children who were
brought in contact with Him,
Jesus saw the men and women
who should be heirs
of His grace and subjects
of His kingdom,
and some of whom would
become martyrs for His sake.
He knew that these children
would listen to Him and accept
Him as their Redeemer
far more readily than would
grown-up people, many of
whom were the worldly-wise
and hardhearted.

Continuing:
In His teaching He came
down to their level.
He, the Majesty of heaven,
did not disdain to answer
their questions,
and simplify His important
lessons to meet their childish
understanding.
He planted in their minds
the seeds of truth,
which in after years would
spring up, and bear fruit
unto eternal life.
{DA 512.4}
Hosea 10:12 (KJV)
Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap
in mercy; break up your fallow ground:
for [it is] time to seek the LORD, till he
come and rain righteousness upon you.
Question: Boys & girls, what did Jesus see
in the children who were brought
in contact with Him?
And, what did He know that these
children would far more readily do
than grown-up people?
If you know the answers
to these questions,
Bubble up! Dear ones! 8

Jesus saw the men and women who should be heirs of
His grace and subjects of His kingdom, and some
of whom would become martyrs for His sake.
And, that these children would listen to Him and
accept Him as their Redeemer, many of whom

“Rejoice in the Lord alway,” the apostle Paul exhorts,
“and again I say, Rejoice.” Philippians 4:4.
Whatever your disposition may be,
God is able so to mold it that it will be sweet and Christlike.
By the exercise of living faith you can separate
from everything that is not in accordance with the mind of God,
and thus bring heaven into your life here below.
Doing this, you will have sunshine at every step.
When the enemy seeks to enshroud the soul with darkness,
sing faith and talk faith,
and you will find that you have sung and talked yourself into the light.

Desire of Ages, p.515
It is still true that children are
the most susceptible to the
teachings of the gospel;
their hearts are open to divine
influences, and strong to retain
the lessons received.
The little children may be
Christians, having an
experience in accordance with
their years. They need to be
educated in spiritual things,
and parents should give them
every advantage, that they may
form characters after the
similitude of the character of
Christ. {DA 515.1}
Question: Boys & girls, what is still true
about children?
And, what do they need and
what should parents do?
If you know the answers
to these questions,
bubble up, Dear ones!
12
Answer
13
They are the most susceptible to the
teachings of the gospel;
their hearts are open to divine influences,
and strong to retain the lessons received.
And, to be educated in spiritual things
and they should give them every
advantage, that they may form characters
after the similitude of the
character of Christ.
14
Desire of Ages, p.515
Fathers and mothers should look
upon their children as younger
members of the Lord’s family,
committed to them to educate
for heaven. The lessons that we
ourselves learn from Christ we
should give to our children,
as the young minds can receive
them, little by little opening to
them the beauty of the principles
of heaven. Thus the Christian
home becomes a school,
where the parents serve as
underteachers, while Christ
Himself is the chief instructor.
{DA 515.2}
Question: Boys & girls, how should fathers and
mothers look upon their children and
give their young minds lessons that
they have learned themselves?
And, what do their homes become and
Whom are they instructed by?
If you know the answers
to these questions,
bubble up, dear ones! 15
16
They should look upon them as younger members
of the Lord’s family, committed to educate them for
heaven and little by little opening to them
the beauty of the principles of heaven.
And, their homes become a school,
where the parents serve as underteachers,
while Christ Himself is the chief instructor.
Answer
17
Desire of Ages, p.515
In working for the conversion
of our children,
we should not look for violent
emotion as the essential
evidence of conviction of sin.
Nor is it necessary to know
the exact time when they
are converted.
We should teach them to
bring their sins to Jesus,
asking His forgiveness,
and believing that He pardons
and receives them as
He received the children when
He was personally on earth.
{DA 515.3}
18
Desire of Ages, p.515
As the mother teaches her
children to obey
her because they love her,
she is teaching them the first
lessons in the Christian life.
The mother’s love
represents to the child
the love of Christ,
and the little ones who trust
and obey their mother
are learning to trust
and obey the Saviour.
{DA 515.4}
Represents to the child
the love of Christ
Question: Boys & girls, what should our
children bring to Jesus asking Him
and believing as they do?
And, what are mothers teaching their
children to obey besides loving her?
If you know the answers
to these questions
Bubble up! Dear little ones!
19
20
To bring their sins to Jesus,
asking His forgiveness, and believing that He pardons
and receives them as He received the children
when He was personally on earth.
And, they are teaching them the first lessons
in the Christian life.
Let’s learn another beautiful song together
dear ones from our lesson book Desire of Ages!
Answer
21 21
All true obedience comes from the heart.
It was heart work with Christ.
And if we consent,
He will so identify Himself with our thoughts and aims,
so blend our hearts and minds into conformity to His will,
that when obeying Him we shall be but carrying out our own impulses.
The will, refined and sanctified,
will find its highest delight in doing His service.
When we know God as it is our privilege to know Him,
our life will be a life of continual obedience.
Through an appreciation of the character of Christ,
through communion with God, sin will become hateful to us.

Jesus was the pattern
for children,
and He was also
the father’s example.
He spoke as one
having authority,
and His word was
with power;
yet in all His intercourse
with rude and
violent men He did not
use one unkind or
discourteous expression.

Matthew 11:29 (KJV)
Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me;
for I am meek
and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest
unto your souls.
It is true that Christ
is to be the model
for children.
He was subject
unto his parents;
but Christ is
also the father's
example, and his
tender love should
be shown by his
human agent.

there would be one hundred conversions to the truth
where now there is only one.

Parents, in the training of
your children, study the lessons
that God has given in nature.
If you would train a pink,
or rose, or lily,
how would you do it?
Ask the gardener by what
process he makes every branch
and leaf to flourish so beautifully,
and to develop in
symmetry and loveliness.
He will tell you that it was by
no rude touch, no violent effort;
for this would only break
the delicate stems.

It was by little attentions,
often repeated.
He moistened the soil,
and protected the growing
plants from the fierce blasts
and from the scorching sun,
and God caused them to flourish
and to blossom into loveliness.
In dealing with your children,
follow the method of the gardener.
By gentle touches,
by loving ministrations,
seek to fashion their characters
after the pattern of
the character of Christ.

Chapter 6-With Good Books That Ennoble the Mind Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy,
and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand.
Revelation 1:3. {SD 178.1}
We made it a practice to read instructive and interesting books, with the Bible,
in the family circle, and our children were always happy as we thus entertained them.
Thus we prevented a restless desire to be out in the street with young companions, and at the
same time cultivated in them a taste for solid reading. . . . The volumes of "Spirit of Prophecy,"
[THE CONFLICT OF THE AGES SERIES REPLACED THIS FOUR-VOLUME SET.]
should be in every family, and should be read aloud in the family circle. . . . (Next Slide)
33
34
The Testimonies contain instruction which meets the case of all, both parents and children.
Should these be read aloud to the entire family, the children as well as the parents would
be benefited by their counsels, warnings, and reproofs. . . .
Let the time be devoted to the reading of the Scriptures and other interesting books
that will impart knowledge and inculcate right principles. Let the best reader be selected
to read aloud, while other members of the family are engaged in useful occupations.
Thus these evenings at home may be made both pleasant and profitable.
{SD 178.2}
Children need proper reading, which will afford amusement and recreation,
and not demoralize the mind or weary the body. {SD 178.3}
34
Most children and young people will have reading matter; and if it is not selected for them,
they will select it for themselves. They can find a ruinous quality of reading anywhere,
and they soon learn to love it; but if pure and good reading is furnished them,
they will cultivate a taste for that. {SD 178.4}
By practising right-doing, a disgust will be created in the heart for that which is low, cheap,
and disorderly. {SD 178.5}
Pure healthful reading will be to the mind what healthful food is to the body.
You will thus become stronger to resist temptation, to form right habits, and to act upon right
principles. {SD 178.6}
Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy,
and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand. Revelation 1:3 (KJV)
