Note from the Principal

The end of term is upon us once again! How quickly the time goes when you are busy in school. As al-

ways, the girls and boys have been involved in a variety of activities this term which has certainly kept

them (and their teachers) on their toes! From academic and sporting activities to musical and dramatic

masterpieces! I think we are all ready for a break after such an industrious term. Each class from Pre-

School 1 to Class 6 put on a spectacular performance in their end of term Christmas Concert. I was so im-

pressed by the confidence on display throughout all of the shows. The excitement was tangible from the

stage. The students not only had great fun but also gained socially, from interacting with various students

and academically from learning lines and thus improving and increasing their memory capacity.

The costumes, props and well learnt lines and songs all led to a most professional performance from all

218 students, a very high standard has been set! Very well done to all of the students! Many thanks to the

class teachers and Áine and Kevin, our music and drama teachers, for leading the students through the

practices. Huge thanks to the parents also, for consolidating the teachers work by helping with lines, cos-

tumes and even perfecting accents. The home school link is vitally important in all aspects of a student’s

life, when this link is strong and positive, wonderful things are possible, so many thanks to you, the par-

ents for this.

Apart from Christmas Plays, the students have been busy playing the violins, getting to grips with our new

suite of computers and winning basketball matches! Along with this, representatives from Class 1 to Class

6 have been busy with their work on the Student Council. Many thanks to these girls, the Student Council

gives all students a voice in school, it is a very important role and the representatives are doing a great

job.

We concluded the term with a very special morning celebrating the wonderful work of Aideen Sargent.

The Parents Council dedicated a Buddy Bench in recognition of Aideen’s 44 years teaching in The Teresian

School. The Buddy Bench now has pride of place in the playground, a fantastic acknowledgement to

Aideen’s dedication. We also had another special visitor on the last day of school! Pre-School & Kinder A

& B were surprised and delighted to see Santa stopped into school quickly before dashing back to The

North Pole for the busiest night of his year!

As we take leave for the Christmas break, we wish Claire Morrissey our Class 2 teacher all the best on her

wedding day. Wishing you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

Science Week in November

During Science Week, we had many parents who kindly volunteered to come in and talk to us about our health including our heart and the damage of eating too much sugar. We even learned about protons, neutrons and electrons! We also had a visit from Junior Ein-stein who showed us fascinating science displays and we carried out our own experiments in our classroom.

Special thanks to parents Bevin Power Mooney, Brian Bailey and Laura McKenzie for joining us during Science Week.

Computer Classes for all

We have our new laptops and we want to use them!

It’s no longer just classes 3 –6 who have a specialist Computer

class.

Gill, our Computer teacher, has given introductory classes to

Kinder A and B and Classes 1 and 2.

All of the students now know how to log on and off the

computers, and are familiar with the main keys on the keyboard.

Kinder A had an extra class and learned how to click and drag

using the mousepad.
