GENERAL OBJECTIVES:- Establish the importance to teach English to Children at an early age.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: - State the need to teach English to Children as early as possible. - Develop appropriate skills according to
the children´s ages. - Indicate the Teaching-Learning process in a sequential order according to the scholar stage of the child. - Analyze the average characteristics of a child which
are relevant for language teaching.
GOALS: 90% of the participants will be able to determine that young Children possess a greater capacity to acquire a new language.
CONTENTS:
Session # 1: General view of the young language learner. - Pre-test -Theory of the Multiple intelligences. -Definition of the Multiple Intelligences. -What are the eight intelligences? -Integration of the MI theory in T.E.F.L. -Introduction of the process: The language mind.
Session # 2: First Stage (Pre-school stage) -Children from the age of three to four. -The importance of learning English at this stage. -Methodology applied at this stage. -Class management and atmosphere.
Session # 3: Second Stage-Five to seven year old children.-The communicative approach-Methodology: Stories in pictures/ story telling/ expanding vocab., through reading/language learning games, jazz chants.
Session # 4: Third Stage-Eight to ten year old children.-Developing guesswork strategies.-Creative thinking riddles.-Effective interviewing in the
communicative classroom.
Session # 5: Classroom management-Lesson planning-Strategies: Motivational strategies
