The Szarvas Fellowships The Szarvas Fellowships is an incredible opportunity to attend the largest international Jewish camp in Szarvas, Hungary with a pluralistic group of teens from across the Unit- ed States and Canada. Every year, thousands of campers from over 25 countries attend Camp Szarvas, learning together the many different ways Jews around the world live out their Judaism. The Fellowship is driven by daily educational sessions on topics like Jewish identity, social justice, pluralism, Israel, the role of the Diaspora, and more. In the international context of Camp Szarvas, these questions take on new dimensions and complexities. Fellows also spend time each day in a “mifgash”, a meeting with another country, where they discuss Jewish life and identity in their respective countries. Camp Szarvas is also very much a camp, and each day Fellows enjoy swim, dance, sports, biking, art, canoeing, music etc., with the various countries represented. The meals at Szarvas are contagiously energetic, with cheering and spontaneous singing and dancing in many languages. One of the core goals of the program is to establish a framework that allows every participant, no matter their Jewish background, to feel comfortable expressing who they are. Camp Szarvas is a place that nurtures exploration, leadership and Jewish identity building. It is at the forefront of what it means to engage and experience what global Jewish peoplehood is all about. www.szarvas.org
