peninsula, production

Kattegattleden is a 370 km-long

national tourist bicycle route

between the cities of Gothenburg in

the north and Helsingborg in the

south. This route should be close to

the sea, free of cars and eventful for

tourists and businesses.

Certain stretches, where the

Transport Administration is the road

management body, do not

completely fulfil the traffic safety

criteria formulated for tourist bicycle

routes. In some parts new

construction is required, and in

certain parts improvements to the

existing road network are required to

make it suitable for cyclists. For

example, there is need for new

construction on a limited section on

the Bjäre peninsula.

Kattegattleden is a co-financed

project between the municipalities

along the stretch and the Transport

Administration. The principal for the

entire project is Region Halland.

This assignment involves a road plan

with design type two (2). This means

The measures being addressed are

curve and level crossing measures.

The measures have been divided up

in the action package that has been

produced within the framework for

the work with level crossings on the

Fryksdal Line. The line has been split

up where Kil – Sunne represents

Stage 1 and Sunne – Torsby is Stage

2. It is Stage 1 that this procurement

concerns.

The section is approx. 41 km long, 8

curves with a radius of 600 m or less

have been identified as well as 105

crossing measures. In connection

with the crossing measures, it is

assessed that 6 km of new road

needs to be built.

This includes closure of crossings,

protection measures and in a few

cases new crossings. The road

measures aim to connect together

several nearby crossings which

following the measures will be joined

to comprise one crossing.

There are relatively few tight curves

on the route which keeps costs

down.

The road that today crosses the

Bohus Line for Road 587 has become

too old. There is extensive concrete

damage and it needs to be replaced.

We will therefore build a new bridge

with full carrying capacity. The new

bridge will also be safer for traffic for

those crossing the bridge. There will,

for example, be a pedestrian and

cycle route for unprotected road

users.

The intersection of Road 570/Road

587 is of insufficient standard and

there are inadequate pedestrian and

cycle routes. In the road plan we will

investigate how we can best improve

traffic safety in the intersection.

The project also includes around 600

metres of new pedestrian and cycle

route and two new bus stops.

Road 570 and Road 587 are

connected to E6 and the nationwide

road network in Göteborg. The

county roads therefore primarily

have a local function as catchment

roads. Road 570 also has traffic from
