Quote of the Week The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the greatest intention. Anonymous Meeting Order (Oct. 21) Presiding Bob Elam Prayer Gordon Bishop Pledge Ginny Wagner 4-‐Way Test Don Bender Guests of Rotary Brenda Staples-‐Speaker Rhonda Conklin-‐Lou Gibson Last Program (Oct.21) Our speaker was Brenda Staples, who is director of the Meals on Wheels or Senior Nutrition Program in Williamson County. This program provides a hot meal each day for seniors who are able to stay in their own homes, but are unable to drive and shop for themselves. Drivers deliver thousands of meals each month. The program is funded by federal grants and local contributions. Membership Matters Our President was impressed that all new members have signed up to
work in the many areas of the Arts and Crafts Fair. One of the main ways we enjoy Rotary is by working on this kind of event together(fellowship). It also gives us to chance to get to know one another. Rotarians in the News Bill and Joanne Harrah celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Mike Bell has opened an Edward Jones Office in Sun City. We wish you well. Lynda Peters has been in Honduras doing the work of MEDICO. Happy Bucks ($60) Lou Gibson At the anniversary dinner, we were given an update on Lou’s health condition. He is at home now, and it is hoped that Lou can join us again really soon. Arts and Crafts Fair All members have been asked to volunteer for either one or two jobs needed. Please check the signup sheets for more information
about the different work areas. Rotary’s commitment to the success of the fair requires much time and effort from all of us. Today’s Program Jenny Philips-‐the S C Lifestyle Director Welcome Jenny! Carolyn Holloway Thank you, Carolyn, for hosting a get-‐acquainted social for new members in your home. The nuts and bolts of Rotary were explained by President Bob Elam and others. The Anniversary Dinner Many of us celebrated our 17th anniversary as a Rotary club in Sun City. Some of the highlights included President Bob Elam inducting our newest member, Rhonda Conklin. She was sponsored by Lou Gibson. Adaire Wolf was presented with the Gaz Green Service Above Self Award. It was well-‐deserved. Adaire and her husband, David, have attended all seventeen anniversary dinners. Mike Bell entertained the audience with a magic show. Mike’s parents were part of the crowd. His mom related that when Mike was growing up there was never a dull moment in their home.
