NATIONAL LEVEL

1. Is solar becoming a primary source of new electric capacity?

The second largest source of new electricity generating

capacity behind natural gas (4th in 2012).

U.S. PV Market Installed 4,751 Megawatts in 2013.

A 41% increase over 2012.

23 times more utility-scale solar installed in the third quarter of

2013 compared to the third quarter 2012.

Residential solar installation have grown 230% over the last 15

quarters.

2. Is solar cost-competitive…without incentives?

Consider that Congress provides on average $31 billion to the

oil, gas and coal industries EVERY YEAR.

Without government incentives,

oil, gas and coal would not be

cost-competitive with solar.

2. Is solar cost-competitive…without incentives?

More than half of all residential solar installations in California

were deployed without any assistance from the state's solar

initiative.

That number has continually grown every quarter.

The average price of a solar panel has declined by 60% since

the beginning of 2011.

Payback times can be as short as 18 months.
