Sarah Schuman – President I wish to thank the River View Yacht Club Satin Gavel for all you did to make the weekend wonderful. The hospitality room, the luncheon and the ball was great. The wine glasses were beautiful. I am so pleased we have a full slate. Thank you ladies for stepping up. I am grateful for all we accomplished at the meetings. With July and August being so busy I’ve decided to have our meeting on June 23rd. Look for the flyer with the information. Hope it will be good for everyone. It would be nice to see you.I will be combining the transition meeting with the board meeting. Dates to remember:October Harbor View Yacht ClubNovember 10 Christmas in November Ford Yacht ClubJanuary Port ClintonApril 11 & 12, 2014 River View Yacht Club - Sandi Kosinski ISG Ball On May 8th I will be 8 weeks through my recovery. Doing better each day. Going to cardiac rehab 3 times a week to regain my strength. Thank you for the cards, prayers and well wishes. Respectfully Submitted,Sarah Schuman

Sandi Kosinski – 1st Vice President Happy Spring! Well, that’s if it ever really gets here. It probably means that summer will be that much better because we had to wait so long!

To those of you who were able to make it for our April meeting and ball weekend, Thank You! I hope you had as much fun as I did. We had a few glitches that were nicely ironed out and the luncheon and ball could not have been nicer. If you weren’t able to make it this year, please try for 2014. Same place, same weekend. What a great time to get to know each other! We had sisters there that we haven’t seen in years! Good to have you back. Please don’t be a stranger. Kudos to the committee who put it all together!

Next is the summer meeting. A flyer with all the info is in the newsletter. It’s a 1 day quickie but no less important because of that. We need and value everyone’s input. President Sarah has tried to make the location convenient for all. Remember, the key word this year is CARPOOL. Make a day of it. Don’t forget there are a number of fun things to do in the area. Lakeside, Ohio is lovely in the summer. There are tours of the Marblehead light house. Also wineries up and down the main routes. Give it some serious thought, please. We need all of you.

As membership chairman, I would love to come and visit your chapters or home clubs. Let me know when you have something going on and I will try my best to be there. This year I would like to have a theme of STAY CONNECTED. This is your connection to the members of your chapter, the members of your auxiliary, (these people are our future), your neighboring clubs and chapters, and ultimately, INTERNATIONAL. This is where we can all come together and roll up our sleeves and talk about our challenges and our successes. With all the years of experience we have as leaders in our own clubs, there shouldn’t be anything we can’t accomplish.

Hoping to say “Hi!” to each of you,Sandi Kosinski1st Vice

Donna Payne – 2nd Vice President Spring is in the air! Flowers beginning to bloom and boats are being readied for launch for our 2013 boating season. What a wonderful ball and luncheon Saturday April 13, 2013 at Holiday Inn French Quarter celebrating our new President Sarah Schuman and her board, if you missed it you missed a great party, try to attend next year.

I am looking forward to another great year of fellowship with our members and hopefully increasing our numbers. We need to win back those members who have dropped out for whatever reason. My goal as membership chairperson is to attempt to contact those members and encourage them to rejoin our wonderful organization this year and for years to come. My other responsibility is to publish a current roster of members. This is a time consuming and tedious job with lots of checking names are spelled correctly and all the other personal data is correct. That being said, I hope to have it complete within the next month. I will have available an electronic copy for those who prefer to have the roster via email, and a printed copy available to your Chapter President or other representative at our next few meetings. Due to increasing costs of printing, paper, postage and other supplies we voted at our April meeting to distribute the roster in this manner. Please email me at [email protected] if you would prefer the email version of the roster.

Hope to see many of you at the July meeting location to be determined, October meeting at Harbor View Yacht Club and November Christmas Party at Ford Yacht Club.

Enjoy Spring and SummerDonna Payne

CHAPTER HAPPENINGS

I ran into Cathy Shepard from Maumee River Yacht Club the other day. She told me that MRYC Auxiliary is going to be having an Auxiliary Birthday party. This is not to celebrate members’ birthdays, but to celebrate the founding of their Auxiliary. They get together yearly with a nice dinner, champagne, and entertainment. I understand this year it might be belly dancing. Maybe they will give lessons. Ask Cathy to demo a few moves when you see her. What a great way to get together with members you might not have seen in a while! Great place to talk up Satin Gavel and, dare I say, recruit?

RVYC chapter did some fund raising on the 20th of April. Chapter members put together a Polish dinner with chicken, meatballs, kielbasa, mashed and gravy, corn and sweet and sour cabbage along with salad and dessert. The price was $10.00 per person and $5.00 for a kid’s plate. Along with a couple of raffle items donated by members, they were able to bring in over a thousand dollars. After costs, it was around 500 profit. Many of the club members helped with the cooking, set up, and dishes.Does anyone in your chapter have a specialty item they are noted for cooking? “Food” for thought.

To all members of ISG.

I have been asked to give a report on our experience at the Holiday Inn French Quarter. Those of you who had the pleasure of attending knew we were not treated in the manner the French Quarter operates. They had a very bad experience with another group and it caused utter confusion for everyone. I have been assured not only by the hotel staff, but also the V. President that they are not welcome back to the French Quarter. The whole staff could not be more apologies as well as the V. Pres. himself. I would like to add that they have compensated ISG VERY WELL. They value all of us as well as all of our fellow boating friends. I might say if you see one of the people who worked with us, just say: THANK YOU”Betty DuPre’********************************************************************************

Letter from the Editors-

With rising postage costs and mailing restrictions it was voted by the body at the April meeting to institute a policy of an additional $5.00 charge for those members who would like to have their newsletter exclusively through the U S Postal Service (snail mail). This will be a line item on your dues notice this coming year. The notices go out from International after the October meeting in the newsletter. Remember, that notice only reflects the fees due International. Any assessments levied by your chapter are in addition to these. The fee, along with any dues and patron ads should always go through your CHAPTER. The chapter then sends the monies minus chapter fees to International

along with all updates of roster information. Any new members, deaths, name, address, phone, and e-mail changes are sent at this time as well as whom the president will be for the coming year. This way we have a solid contact person for each chapter as well as all the updates that 2nd Vice needs for the roster. We truly appreciate your efforts to help this go smoothly. Those who wish to continue to receive the newsletter electronically only need to make sure that their e-mail is a current working address.

Thanks for your efforts,Sandi Kosinski & Angie White
