God wants to help you turn your tragedy into triumph! But, He can’t do it without your participation!


“Victim” or “Victor” You be the judge!

- assuming posture of “pathos” (Greek for “suffering”)- focusing on circumstances- indulging in negative self talk



- assuming posture of “dunamos” (Greek for “power”)- focusing on God’s promises- speaking truth to self


2 Tim. 1:7 (CEV) “God's Spirit doesn't make cowards out of us.

The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control.”


Phil. 4:13 (CEV) “Christ gives me the strength to face anything.”


James 1:2-4 (CEV) “My friends, be glad, even if you have a lot of trouble. You know that you learn to endure by having your faith tested. But you must learn to endure everything, so that you will be completely mature and not lacking in anything.”



- reliving details of tragedy daily - allowing feelings of defeat and despair to paralyze



- acknowledging tragedy is real- learning/growing from it continuing to move forward


Phil. 3:13-14 (CEV) “My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead.I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven.”



- continually blaming others- wishing harm to befall them- taking matters into their own hands



- leaving room for God’s justice- forgiving, praying for & blessing those responsible


Rom. 12:19-21 (CEV) “Dear friends, don't try to get even. Let God take revenge. In the Scriptures the Lord says, ‘I am the one to take revenge and pay them back.’ The Scriptures also say, ‘If your enemies are hungry, give them something to eat. And if they are thirsty, give them something to drink. This will be the same as piling burning coals on their heads.’ Don't let evil defeat you, but defeat evil with good.”


Luke 6:28 (CEV) “Ask God to bless anyone who curses you, and pray for everyone who is cruel to you.”

Herein lies the greatest indicator that you have moved from “victim” to “victor” - when you can genuinely forgive, pray for, and wish them well. This takes time!
