Do you know what the loudest noise in the world is? The answer: The first rattle you hear in your brand new car! OK, so it may
not actually be the loudest noise in the world, but it sure gets your attention.
But some noises that our cars and trucks make can be much more serious in nature
and we would all be wise to heed the warning.
It is estimated that almost 10 percent of all vehicle crashes are caused by some type of
failure in a vehicle system or feature.
Brake failure, tire failure, suspension failure, engine failure or steering system failures all
happen on a regular basis.
Listening for the sounds that precede these failures, and which offer us warnings, can help to save us from one of these types of
crashes.
When you hear this sound as you apply your brakes, you should not wait long to take you vehicle to a qualified brake repair facility to
have them examined.
Continuing to use your brakes and hearing this sound, can lead to higher repair costs
the longer you delay in getting this attended to.
If you hear the level of this sound increase as you increase the speed of your vehicle, the
first thing that you should check is your tires.
When you examine your tires make sure that you get down low enough so that you
can see the inside of the tire as well.
If you hear this type of sound while you are turning or backing up your vehicle, it could be the result of tie rod or ball joint that is
cracked or seizing up.
Have this looked at or you could find yourself on the side of the road with a vehicle that is not able of being driven.
