THE SOUND PLAYGROUND has been created to provide stimulating and fun musical activities for children under 5 years. The programme supports the Early Years Foundation Stage and has been written to enhance children’s development within three age groups:

Mini-Mozart: 0-18 monthsTunes for Tots: 18-36 months All About Me: 3-5 years

Who is the Sound Playground for?Schools - the perfect way to introduce music making into your nursery group or reception class whilst giving staff experience, ideas and inspiration for their own teaching.

Families - a nurturing experience for parents/ carers and their children to help music become a part of every day life.

Why Music?There is extensive evidence of the educational benefits of music in early years. Exposing very young children to music can help them to learn and develop skills which will stay with them throughout their lives. The Lancashire Sinfonietta believe that only the highest quality experiences are good enough for the next generation of little musicians.

About Our MusiciansSessions are delivered by top professionals - artists who perform in the UK’s finest orchestras. All our music leaders have received specialist educational training and are highly experienced practitioners. Every one of our musicians holds an enhanced CRB.

Sustainability & ResourcesOur visiting musicians will work with you to achieve the best possible outcomes from the sessions, whether we visit for one workshop or a longer project. They will offer practical advice and ideas for how to get the most out of your own music-making.

In addition, we leave you with a special CD of our music and accompanying booklet full of games, rhymes, stories, songs and art activities to inspire you to keep the music playing after our visit.
