For more information about the foun-dation and how you can donate and support the group, please visit New Hope Foundation website at newhopefoundation.us “We wanted to show the younger generation

how to do things the right way and how to come together as one” added Bashir.

During the basketball tournaments, field trips and mentoring sessions, the group spend a lot of time learning about one another, they de-veloped the habit of praying together and helping one another. Ahmed Omar another founder of the group chimed in “Unity is one thing, without it, we will fail, our goal with this initiative is to invite and bring everyone on board and work together” said Ahmed.

A year later, the group stood up in front of the community and asked them to do their part in improving the lives of the youth. Ab-dilahi Yusuf, co-founder of the organization talked about promoting holistic and well-rounded experiences for the youth, “We seek to foster education, promote and encourage creative expressions, and provide platform for our youth to improve their physical and psychological health” added Abdillahi who also read a famous quote by Frederick Douglass, “It is easier to build strong chil-dren than to repair broken men.”

New Hope foundation is building lasting relationships with the youth involved in their programs. The group has demonstrated the importance of youth led initiatives in ad-dressing youth issues in the community.

In today’s world, young Muslims are under scrutiny from the media and other sectors of the society and stories of radicalization and recruitment to terror groups continue to define them. Programs like the ones New Hope Foundation run need to be placed at the forefront of the community.

Sheikh Mahad Hassan, one of the keynote speakers during the fundraising dinner re-minded the crowd about his own mentors who shaped him and inspired him to do good in the community.

Sheikh Abdinasir Omar, also shared his personal story and stressed the importance of giving back to the community. “If we do not invest in to the youth today, some-body else will, and we know who the other person is” added Sheikh Abdinasir.

The speakers encouraged the community to play a proactive role in helping promote healthy youth development. Dozens of prominent community leaders and business owners pledged to sponsor some of the programs for the year.

Somalia and Somaliland - Improving Ministerial Effec-

tiveness

It is a mark of the progress in recent years that ministries are

not only well established in Somalia and Somaliland, but are

showing nascent signs of building the mechanisms that allow

them to function with degrees of success. In many respects

Somaliland is ahead of the game, having enjoyed relative

peace for several decades and deserves credit for the pro-

gress it has made. That said, both Somalia and Somaliland

share similar challenges that are impeding ministerial effec-

tiveness. Whilst it is important that solutions be relevant to

particular need what follows are a number of common areas

that could easily be addressed to enhance efficiency and ac-

countability.

1) Accessibility & Punctuality

A particular point of irritation for local citizens and foreigners

alike is the fact that ministries often appear to work incon-

sistent hours. In an era of globalisation, air conditioning and

the internet it is more than a little anachronistic that some gov-

ernment offices appear to shut up shop at midday having

barely been open for three or four hours. Additionally as pre-

cious government resources are being expended it makes

sense to ensure that time and motion studies are both under-

taken and their findings acted upon. Ministers are public

servants and have a responsibility to set the tone and thus it is

heartening to hear that recently in Puntland State, Somalia the

State President has been eager to discover whether ministers

and their staff are arriving in good time to start the day.

Whilst as a rule the majority of Somali ministers are far more

accessible than comparable figures holding government offic-

es elsewhere, perennial concerns exist about those who act as

the proverbial gatekeeper, denying or facilitating ministerial

access depending on clan association, favours and occasional-

ly the greasing of palms. When it comes to any forms of access

it is important that accurate records are kept with a view to

greater transparency.

2) Core Values

All ministers are responsible for helping set the tone and can

do so by ensuring that the ministry has an agreed Vision and

Mission statement and feature prominent notices such as:

'Please note that you are entering a corruption free zone'. Visi-

tors connote much about the purpose and positivity of a minis-

try by seeing monthly targets, data charts etc. on display. Min-

isters should be in the vanguard of curbing the prevailing cul-

ture of patronage and monitoring clan diversity amongst min-

isterial staff. Through the art of delegation ministers are in a

position to help empower others and have the potential to en-

gender greater trust and mutual respect. Commitment to gen-

der equality, the development of the regions and such issues

as improving the lot of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) can

soon be gleaned from a visit to any particular ministry.

3) Communication

Whilst it is inevitable that ministerial budgets and resources

(both human and otherwise) vary enormously, ministers as

trustees of government portfolios need to be ever mindful of

the role of communication. Effective communication is like a lu-

brication that eases the workings of human endeavour. People

benefit enormously from clear objectives. Inter-ministry com-

munication is a vital component of efficient government, whilst

new technology affords ministers and their staff with a whole

range of means by which to communicate with various stake-

holders. Sadly, there is a wealth of anecdotal evidence that cer-

tain ministers and their departments in both Somalia and Soma-

liland fall woefully short when it comes to responding to emails

or ensuring that ministerial websites are active and up to date.

The issue of scrutiny and accountability has proved a sensitive

one, especially in regards to journalism and ministers need to

understand that robust and responsible journalist is an im-

portant part of scrutiny and accountability in a functioning de-

mocracy.

With the status and privileges of being a minister comes a

wealth of responsibilities. Holding government office is never

easy and requires enormous strength of character, tempered

by humility. Day to day activities can often result in some of the

most vulnerable being largely forgotten. Observers of the So-

mali scene would do well to remember minority . In view of the

geo-political sensitivities of the Horn of Africa ministers are also

expected to have dealings with the likes of Nicholas Kay, the

UN Special Representative for Somalia.

As in all things it is essential that ministries are appraised regu-

larly to see that they are fit for purpose. This means that a

strong case can be made for the rationalisation of certain port-

folios and as ever it is imperative that appointments to roles are

made on merit. A minister's effectiveness is not measured by

the number of international flights that they take, but how hard

they work to improve the lives of the people they have been

appointed to serve. With the topic of ministerial appointments a

point of particular discussion at present we must hope that im-

proving ministerial effectiveness will be a key priority of the

Executive.

It is critical at this time to get out the right message of Islam - The message of One God, and His people - those

We originally started out in 1998 to meet the demand for authentic faith based English representation of a broad ethnic population living throughout America.

First we first started building websites on the Internet. After years of experimentation, we came up with a way to digitally stream videos on channels for scholars to broadcast excellent live and prerecorded vid-eo programs, into the homes of thousands of viewers around the world.

We provide programs everywhere; from Australia, New Zea-land, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Turkey, Africa, the Gulf, the Netherlands, the U.K. and of course America, all across Can-ada and the U.S.

Our live and recorded Internet video streaming extends around the earth and offers alternate understandings for faith, in simple English for many homes on our planet. But what about all those homes that don't have Internet or don't know about our online channels? We have spent years researching logistics to achieve something that has never been seen in America - until now:

Three years ago we started to build a firm foundation to the extent, we are proud to announce - Guide US TV is ready to launch and broad-casting online right now! Content IS KING! That's what they say in broadcast TV - And we have a great mix of quality programs from our media partners like, Peace TV, HUDA TV, Islam Channel, Voice of Is-lam and our own inventory.

Dowladda Federalka ee Somalia ayaa digiin u dirtey shirkad kuwa macdanta baara ah oo laga leeyahay dal-ka shiinaha taasoo marka magaceeda lasoo gaabiyo la yiraahdo ARC islamarkaana howlo baaritaan oo

meelo xasilloon sida warsaxaafdeedka lagu sheegey

Dowladda Somaliya ayaa xiriir ay la sameyse dowladda China kaga codsatey in

waxaana ay tilmaantey in hadallada kasoo yeerey dowladda Fedealka ah yihiin kuwo been abuur ah iya-goo ugu baaqey iney faraha kala baxaan arrimaha u gaarka ah Somaliland ayna joojiyaan fara gelinta ay ku hayaan.

warsaxaadaeedka kasoo baxay Wasaaradda Macdanta ee Somaliland ayaa loogu baaqey Madaxda Dowlad-da Federalka ee Somaliya iney ka shaqeeyaan ammaanka shacabka ku nool magaalada Muqdisho iyo gaa-baha ay gacanta ku hayaan halkii ay fara lasoo gali lahaayeen dal madax bannaan oo isku tashadey is-

lamarkaana ay dhowraan heshiiskii ugu dambeeyey Jabuti lagu gaarey.

Is dhaafsiga hadallada xanafta leh ee u dhexeeya Somaliya iyo Somaliland ayaa dhibaato ku ah ama halis galin kara wadahadalladii u dheexeey sanadihii lasoo dhaafey oo laga filaye iney heshiis kama dambeys ah ku gaaraan iyadoo haatan uu muuqdo in qodob kamid ah heshiisyadii hordhaca ahaa uu jabey ama labada

dhinac ay jabiyeen.

Qodobadii ay ku heshiiyeen Dowladaha Somaliya iyo Somaliland kulankii Jabuti ayaa waxaa ku jirey in hawada aan lisu marinnin hadallada xanafta leh oo mugdi gelin kara is fahamka iyo wada hadallada u dhexeeya taasoo iminka muujineysa inuu jabey qodob kamid ah heshiiska kadib markii hadallo xanaf oo

aan u wanaagsaneyn wada hadallada ay is dhaafsadeen wasiirada Macdanta iyo Batrolka Somaliya iyo So-maliland.

Quburro si dhow ula socdey arrimahan ayaa tilmaamaya is dhaafsiga hadallada aan wanaagsaneyn iney god dheer kusii rideyso rajadii laga qabey wadahadallada waxaana ay qabaan inta wadahadallada ay socdaan labada dhinacba ay ka gaabsadaan arrimaha xasaasiga ah iyagoo si hoose uga wada hadli kara

waxii dhibaato ah ee jira.

Shacabka ku nool magaalada muqdisho ayaa u arka walalaha Turkiga dowlad kalgaceyl iyo walalnimo u muujisey kana damqatey dhibaatada iyo burburka ka jira dalka iyadoo guud ahaan magaalada muqdisho jaceylka loo hayo dowladda iyo shacabka turkiga uu gaarey heerkii ugu sarreeye waxaana taa laga garan karaa in xitaa guurka Somalida iyo Turkiga uu aad u fara batey.

Sidoo kale kumanaan ardey ah ayaa loo qaa-dey dalka Turkiga si ay wax ugu soo bartaan iyadoo Ardey u dhalatey Turiga ay jaamaca-daha Muqdisho wax ka bartaan taasoo muujineysa is dhexgalka shucuubta Soo-maaliyed iyo Turkiga. Xiriirka ku dhisan kalgaceylka ayaa yimi kadib markii madax-weynaha Dalka Turkiga isagoo Raisal-wasaare ah uu booqasho taariikhi ah ku tag-ey Soomaaliya xilli abaaro iyo macluushii ugu xumeyd oo galaafatey nolosha dad fara badan ay ka jirtey Somaliya isagoo lasoo gaarey gargaar binu’aadanimo oo isugu jira daawo cunto iyo guryo loo dhisey dadkii abaaraha kasoo barakacay.

Waxuu Ballan qaadey Mr Erdogan xilligaas inuu Soomaaliya dhinac walba ka taa-geerayo kana fulin doono mashaariic fara badan oo isugu jira kuwa gargaarka horo-marinta kaabayaasha dalka sida dhismaha dekadda garoonka dayuuradaha waddooyin-ka iskuullada isbitaallada iyo kuwa kaloo badan oo iminka dowladiisaay ka fulisey dalka qaar kalena ay faraha ku hayaan.

Gaba gabadii Safarkiisa ayaa shir saxaafadeed uu ku qabtey Muqdisho waxa uu ku ballan qaadey madaxweyne Erdogan mashaariic ay kamid yihiin in toban kun oo guri heer Standard caalami ah ay ka dhisi doonaan magaalada Muqdisho, Dhismaha Safaaradda ugu weyn ee dowladda Turkiga ay ku leedahay caalamka tababarrada ci-idamada iyo sii kordhinta arrimaha gar-gaarka.

Madaxweynaha Turkiga ayaa ah madax-weynihii ugu horreeye ee aan African aheyn ee booqda Somaliya waxii ka dambeeye bur-baurkii dowladdii dhexe ee 1991kii iyadoo isla dowladda Turkiga ay tahay dowladdii ugu horreysey ee gargaarkii ugu tirada badnaa u fidisey shacabka Soomaaliyeed taasi laga garan karo sida shacabka Turkiga ay mar kasta u garab taaganyihiin Shacabka Soomaaliya.

“The Speech of our language”

Utterance without weight Spoken with no emphasis And all frivolous speech Is the death of our language Our speech is our heritage The most intricate poetry A song to make us dance And a song to help us work It's Heello and Buraanbur, It's chorus and refrain Syllables and music Conversation and veneration Threats and boasts Riddles and tales Stories and facts Our speech is our heritage Spoken by our ancestors It's the wealth of our people Our children's treasure-house It's the lodestone of our culture Utterly indispensible The means of seeking assistance .
