The National Voice for OB/GYN Residents in Canada
The main goal of the committee is to provide a forum in which residents from across Canada can come together to express opinions and provide recommendations on issues affecting OB/GYN training.
The committee is formed of 39 members:
1 senior and 1 junior resident from each university form the core of the committee allowing each university to be heard.
Did you know: The JM Committee is SOGC’s largest and most active committee!

News is called the…
Each month this section features announcements,
columns and university updates written by members of
the committee. It also features the “Resident Life” column
which facilitates discussion on various residency issues
by publishing the results of regular resident polls.
Did you know: That 13 Resident Life columns have been published since November 2005!
The SOGC Junior Member Committee
The RPDP takes place during the SOGC Annual Clinical
Meeting (ACM) and features sessions specifically
designed for residents. The program is organized by the
Junior Member Committee.
Each year, 2 residents from each university receive
funding from the SOGC to attend the SOGC ACM and
participate in the RPDP.
Did you know: Every year 32 residents participate in the RPDP program!
The SOGC Junior Member Committee
The Residency Fair takes place at the ACM and its
purpose is to provide medical students the unique
opportunity to visit (without paying the airfare) the
OBGYN residency programs of all the medical
universities in Canada. The resident representatives are
onsite to provide information and answer questions
concerning their respective residency program.
Did you know: The onsite resident representatives at the Residency Fair are members of the Junior Member Committee!

Junior Member Creative Contest
All residents are invited to submit a creative work of
writing or art in response to a topic assigned annually by
the Junior Member Committee. The winner receives a
grant of $1000.

ELECTIVE GRANTSThere are 2 categories of elective grants that are intended to assist
residents in pursuing elective training of at least 4 weeks duration during their residency program.
#1 - Junior Member Elective Grants for residents
pursuing electives of at least 4 weeks duration within Canada.
#2 – Junior Member Elective grant in International Women’s Health
for residents pursuing electives of at least 4 weeks duration in a developing country. The host institution also receives a $1000 donation from the SOGC.

Resident Exchanges
During the ACM a resident is selected from the best abstract presentations of
the Junior Member Category. The chosen resident is invited to present their
work at the CNGOF’s Annual Clinical Meeting in France.
Each year the Past-Chair of the Junior Member Committee, a current member
of the Junior Member Committee and a New Graduate (fellow) are invited to
attend the JSOG ACM. The degree of participation and involvement with the
Junior Member Committee is a criteria of selection.
Did you know: Travel, hotel & registration fees are paid for the selected residents of these exchanges!
