It has made our cir- cumstances more bearable, encouraged us and made us stronger! Dear FBC Family,

Over the last month, many everywhere have endured and are enduring

unimaginable situations. Yet, there is GOOD in this world. FBC is such an

example of that.

Specifically, my own family has been shown this by the countless acts of

love and kindness towards us over the past months. It has made our cir-

cumstances more bearable, encouraged us and made us stronger!

If you brought food—we loved it, if you wrote a card—we read it, if you

This past Wednesday evening, the Chancel Choir, Sonrise Choir and Handbell Choir were invited to participate in a Baby Gender Reveal for our Director of Music, Keeley Tarkington. They had a chance to guess by holding up a soprano/alto sign for a girl or a tenor/bass sign

for a boy. Keeley Tarkington

Fellowship Hall Portico Project Update

Our project to build a much needed portico addition to the Fellowship Hall main outside entrance remains on sched-ule. The completed design includes multiple car drop-offs/pick-ups as well as enhanced disability access. The Town of Clayton Planning Department approved the overall de-sign and site plan in mid-April. We solicited and received bids from four local general contractors last week. While the bids are under evaluation, the lowest bid is $49,000 or 18% less than our internal estimate and $66,000 or 24% less than the second lowest bid. This favorable pricing is due in part to the contractors’ uncertainty of our nation’s economic recovery timetable post-COVID-19. We plan to seek congregational approval to award the construction contract at the upcoming May 13 Business Meeting. With your blessings, approval and support, we are expecting completion by mid-September.

Sincerely,

Building and Grounds Committee

Meet Our Church Webmaster

Ever wonder who works behind the

scenes to maintain the information

on our church’s website? We are so

blessed to have an experienced vol-

unteer, trained in computer infor-

mation systems.

Chris Pearce is currently Senior Pro-

ject Manager for Labvantage, a com-

pany that provides laboratory infor-

mation managements systems for the Life Sciences industry. A

humble, quiet guy who likes to keep a low profile, Chris is mar-

ried to Diane Pearce. He is the father of Laney and grandfather to

Pearce and Lane Ford. He attended both Virginia Technical Insti-

tute and NC Wesleyan College.

Thank you, Chris, for all you do in serving our church and our

Lord through our online ministry!

FBCC CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER TEMPORARY CLOSURE UPDATE

Thank you for your prayers for our Child Develop-ment Center, its families and employees during our time of temporary closure. Since prior to clos-ing last week, the Oversight Committee has been considering options for how we might be able to continue supporting our wonderful staff while the center is closed. As many of you know, the CDC is

not set up to generate profit. It is a streamlined operation with tuition supporting the salaries of staff and center supplies. With the closure, the center is no longer receiving regular tuition pay-ments to financially support our staff. After meeting and discuss-ing options as an Oversight Committee, in consultation with the Budget and Finance Committee, the FBCC CDC submitted an ap-plication for the Paycheck Protection Program under the Federal Stimulus Package on Friday. We are not guaranteed this funding, but want to do what we can to financially support the dedicated individuals who make our center the place of Christ-centered learning and nurturing it is. Once we are able to open our doors again, our prayer is to hit the ground running with the same staff, children and families have come to know and love. Please contin-ue to pray for the safety and well-being of our center, children, staff and families during what we pray will be a short-lived clo-sure period.

Vicky Andrews CDC Oversight Committee Chair
