NATIONAL  CHALLENGE

Only  half  of  all  low-‐income  high  school  graduates  immediately  enroll  in  college.

Even  those  who  make  it  to  their  first  day  of  college  are  unlikely  to  see  gradua?on  day.  Only  one  in  ten  low-‐income,  first-‐genera=on  students  who  enroll  in

college  earn  a  bachelor’s  degree.

SEED  CTS  –  THE  BRIDGE

ü  Advising  students  and  families  on  how  to  navigate  barriers  to  college  comple?on

ü  Building  rela?onships  among  key  influencers  in  our  graduates’  college  success

ü  Crea?ng  a  pipeline  of  support  from  high  school  through  college

ü  Conduc?ng  hundreds  of  college  outreach  visits

ü  Collec?ng  longitudinal  student  prepara?on  &  performance  data

Over  the  last  10  years,  CTS  has  built  bridges  between  SEED  graduates’  secondary  and  postsecondary  careers  by:

Campus-‐Based  Support  Systems

College  performance  data  for  the  first  two  categories  are  readily  available.  The  quality  and  quan=ty  of  on-‐campus  support  systems,

however,  have  remained  elusive  criteria  to  measure.

College  supports  directly  affect  graduates’  college  comple=on,  especially  for  the  neediest  students.

SEED  INSTITUTIONAL  SUPPORTS  EVALUATION  (ISE)

The  Ins?tu?onal  Supports  Evalua?on  (ISE)  is  an  assessment  of  an  ins?tu?on’s  current  campus  based  supports  from  a  P-‐16  perspec?ve  with  special  regard  to  serving  historically  underserved  students.

The  ISE  looks  at  the  following  supports…  •  Academic  Support  •  Disability  Support  •  Social  Engagement  /                                Emo?onal  Support

•  Financial  Aid

…and  asks  these  key  ques=ons:  Are  the  supports…

The  Ins?tu?onal  Supports  Evalua?on  (ISE)  helps  all  stakeholders  in  student  success  to  evaluate  postsecondary  college  supports.  It  also  suggests  improvements  to  support  strategies  for  under-‐represented  students  on  campus.
